Does anyone know where I can find some information reguarding wether or not the supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way galaxy is actively feeding or not?

Probably Google or Wikipedia

I'm trying to zero in on it's feeding pattern.

The brightest minds of our time aren't even sure, it's not likely that you will figure it out.
If you're doing it for a research paper or other, try looking at a library. The Internet does not suffice for papers. |

Heh, I'm just interested by this stuff.. And by "zero in" I just meant by the information given by google.
Black Holes have kind of taken over my mind lately. |

Hah. I know what you mean. When I get fixated on something, I don't stop researching it until my head hurts.

I can't tell if you're being serious or not. Scientists theorize that at the center of every galaxy is a supermassive black hole.

It's actually not theory anymore. It's pretty much proven.

Thats where you're slightly wrong. Anything not completely proven is not a fact. Even still, there can/could be a lot of grey area.

The only way to truly detect a blackhole is by it's gravity and they've done that with so many galaxies it's insane.

All that really matters about the black hole at the center of the galaxy is that it's on notice.

The PBS website has a documentary on the black hole on their nova page.
Watch that. |

I thought that they detected black holes through the effect of gravity on the peripheral objects and through the observation of the bending of light.

From what I've seen/read they judge wether or not a black hole is present by the speed of the stars around said area.. if they're going at an extremely fast speed a black hole is present.

Okay, that's what I was getting at. I was just wondering which sort of idea of measuring "gravity" you were using. I've heard of some far out theories...mostly through my room-mate. Fucking astrophysics majors. |
