I'm totally stoked for the end of this season. If OSU or Mich totally stomps one or the other (doesn't even need to be a completely drubbing, just outside of a last second TD/FG to win the game) then they will probably fall behind us and when ND beats USC we'll jump up to second in the rankings and make it to the BCS championship. Like my friend said, life is good for ND when every team ahead of us decided they didn't want to play in the national championship game. God, I love college football, nothing better in the world of sports.

So I just heard about the original battle for Toledo, way back in the day, and I find it hillarious that Ohio got Toledo (the land being fought over) and Michigan was given the upper pennisula, which was pretty much taken from Wisconsin. If I was from Wisconsin I'd be so pissed about that. Speaking of being pissed, I'm gonna miss being able to watch any college football this weekend, bah. I hear the weather is nice and cold for the show down this weekend, no better way to play (or watch) football in my opinion.

Yup, should be low 40s. I'll have to bundle up a little bit when I go. Hopefully it doesn't rain, both because I don't want to be cold and wet, and also because it would hurt our passing game.

As long as there isn't an Ohio State versus Michigan game for the national championship, I could care less the outcome of this game. I'm gunning for Ohio State though since I believe they have played at a consistent level all year. I think Michigan had a few close calls.

This is the Ohio State - Michigan game for the national championship. And Michigan's been playing good all year as well. We both had a bit of a trip up the week before last.
By the way, Mirror Lake was the craziest I've ever seen it in my 4 years here. Fuckin' chilly, too. I didn't even notice that I cut my foot open because I couldn't feel it. |

Also, I liked this quote on ESPN.com :
"Where will historians rank [the game]? Well, in the BCS standings of great American milestones, it ranks behind the surrender at Yorktown and the Emancipation Proclamation, but decimal points ahead of Neil Armstrong's walk." (edited by NSNick on 11-17-06 06:57 AM) |

Yeah, just about the first thing I saw when I woke up was that.
I'm sorry for two reasons: 1) Obviously, I'm sorry to everyone who knew and looked up to the man for their loss. 2) Now it gives even more motivation to Michigan. |

And in the battle where there can be no winners, Flying Bear beat Flying Shark 42-39. Can they shut up now?

The ACC Atlantic is fun.
- Boston College whips Maryland 38-16 but needs to hope that Wake Forest chokes in their final two games (oh, and BC needs to beat 5-5 Miami). - Wake Forest proceeds to do just that, getting trounced 27-6 by Virginia Tech. So I think the scenario is... if Wake Forest beats Maryland, they're in the title game. If Maryland and BC win, then BC's in. If Maryland and Miami win, Maryland's in. And poor Rutgers is getting killed by Cincy, so there goes the talk of them being in the title game. |

Rutgers is no longer "new, Cinderella season, possible national title game" Rutgers. Instead, they've gone back to "old, disgraceful, 1-12 season record" Rutgers. They had a great thing, and blew it on the most trivial of games.
