At some point this season, this had to happen:
USC loses to Oregon State, snapping their 27-game conference winning streak. The Pac-10 is now for Cal's taking. |

USC were *so* due.
I'd brag about Boston College beating Buffalo, but... it's Buffalo. |

We also kept up the best scoring defense in the land, pitching a shutout. woot. |

Can't say how happy I am about OSU beating USC, gotta love it. And now it's time for my Bears to run away with the Pac 10 championship. Now, if ND wins out then both of my teams will be in BCS games, couldn't get any better. Hopefully the games play out to get ND in the National Championship game (this would take quite an interesting turn of events, Mich or Ohio State destroying one or the other in their game, and the other 6 top ten teams messing up, but it's still possible). And Miami lost again, see you later Coker. Quality quote from one of his players, "As a player, I think he's the greatest coach and we all believe in him and trust him," Morse said. "We'd die for him." Should've thought about that when you all broke into that fight causing Coker's career to come into the danger it's in right now.

He was probably going to get fired before that fight. That just sealed the deal.

Bryan Pata, a senior defensive lineman at Miami of... well, THAT Miami, was shot and killed outside of his apartment. The police are saying it's a homicide (ya think?), but the team's going to go ahead and play their game at Maryland this weekend. Pata was apparently a thoroughly decent and all-right fellow, as well as a potential high draft pick. Condolences.

RIP Pata
Also, Rutgers did what? I left that game at half to sleep, thinking the 'Ville would get an easy win. Instead they got embarassed by the Scarlet Knights. Too bad Rutgers has no chance at the BCS title; I think it'll be Big Ten Champ. vs. SEC champ. (Not ready to pick those winners yet.) |

If I could have, I would have put money on Rutgers last night. I just had a feeling.
Rutgers is on path for the Orange Bowl, which for them will be JUST FINE after all these decades of misery. |

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a relatively recent Rutgers convert - the past five-ish years, at most - but my dad has been a fan for decades and has had season tickets for eight years now. So, he got into the game last night without a problem, even as tickets were going for hundreds of dollars on eBay and so forth. He actually has three tickets to each game and, if I didn't have classes today, I would've gone home to go to the game with him. Dammit. Of course, my two best friends got into the game as well, because they're students there.
In any case, I was definitely terrified when things started going downhill in the first half. But the defense came back and did an absolutely stunning job after halftime. That #60 defensive lineman, Meekins, actually went to high school one town over from where I live, and his team was my team's rival in wrestling. He was the heavyweight, of course, and my friend got to wrestle him twice, and suffice to say he is a beast. I was only JV at the time, because I wasn't a varsity wrestler until the year after he graduated, but I followed him pretty closely, especially when I found out he was going to Rutgers and that he would wrestle there and walk on to the football team. Just a little background there, I guess . |

Ah the joys of the BCS. Gotta love how a new twist to the controversy opens up every year. Or maybe it's the same controversy just with different teams.
Anyways, ND won (quinn only threw 20 passes and had 4 TDs, that's a nice percentage). In sadder news, Cal lost, that sucks big time, they better beat USC if they want anything good to come of this season. |

Well, to be fair I'm sure that schedule strength comes into question. I mean, if I load up on weak non-conference opponents, I probably won't be in the final if we go 12-0.

It was shock 'n awe Saturday as far as I'm concerned. Watching Texas lose was kind of sad, I thought they would've been great to have in the BCS title game, but K-State took care of them. Cal was good but not impressive up until yesterday, same for Auburn. The BCS would implode if many other teams lose, even though we know that either USC or ND must lose before January as they play each other. Rutgers still doesn't belong, their schedule was too weak. I can see an Ohio State/USC final if they pass the rest of their tests.

Originally posted by Sin DoganTheir next home game is the day after Thanksgiving, I think, and it's against Cincinnati. As of now, it's sold out, even with the extra seating behind the south endzone. If Rutgers blew it against Louisville, I can guarantee you the stadium would only be half full for Cincinnati. |

Boston College/Maryland is a pretty big game too next week. Winner stays in the hunt for the ACC title game, loser might be heading for the... um... Champs Sports Bowl?

Originally posted by ColinAlong that same vein, Wake Forest who? Football, there? I can't believe they've done what they've done so far (with a backup QB AND HB no less). I was so sure that Florida St. was too talented for them, but nope, 30-0 blowout in favor of the Demon Deacons. If not for Rutgers, that'd be the biggest "Cinderella" story of the year thus far. |
