I currently have a ATI All-in-Wonder with TV tuner, it's nice, but I eventually got a TV in my room anyway. The video card isn't that powerful, anyway. I'm thinking of getting an nVidia Geforce, but I don't know which one... Help please?

How much money are you looking to spend?

$100 - $200, plus I'm also looking for a new Processor, but it's not as desperately needed as a video card at the moment.
(I just got some games and found out my video card can't run them; it's a pretty bad [graphically] video card.) |

The interface type you use is? AGP? PCIX? You need to cough up a few details here.

AGP, link
EDIT: Wow, I'm stupid. That's the old model. Most of the specs are the same, though. (edited by NintendoFB on 11-10-06 12:21 PM) |

This Geforce 7600GS looks like something you'd want.

Heh. These days, your buck can buy quite a lot. My ATI X550 356MB cost $46, so for that amount, you can get a top-of-the-line AGP card.

Sorry I couldn't respond earlier, but I don't really want a top of the line. With how fast computers are advancing nowadays it'll be obsolete by thee end of the year...
The GeForce looks pretty solid, but some people seem to be having trouble with it. I gotta check out some other options before I decide it. |

Good luck getting anything that won't be obsolete in a few months. DirectX 10 is here. I just bought a 7950GX2 last month and already the 8800GTX is out. Luckily I bought it from eVGA and am using their step-up program.

I wanna buy something that can run good games, but won't be COMPLETELY obsolete in a few months. I really don't care about running the most advanced games at highest everything. Just enough to play Half Life 2 without getting a warning about my video card sucking too much.

Video cards are like processors, find the best one available, then go one or to models below that. You get 95% of performance at 60% of the price.

I like that philosophy. I'll keep that in mind. |
