It's in its early stages; it only tells how to rip a background for now. I'll add more stuff to it if I get some suggestions. Yup. |

i've never tried this method (i always use m16-7k so i dont have to manually make 16x16 tiles), but it seems like a good method to use to make sure you get the palette and graphics exactly right.
and your tutorial's SUPER well written. |

Excellent tutorial peter_ac! I could do exgfx but I always got stuck on the palettes as I didn't know I could use a file to load the palette from, nice.
And now I wonder, when is your smw hack going to be released? (edited by darkwitch on 10-31-06 07:40 AM) |

I think you should detail how to get colors for the overworld, as I'm having trouble getting the colors right on the SMAS-SMB3 overworld tiles... | |||

Nice Tutorial. I ever searched an good and simple tutorial to change ExGFX.
But there's one point: I can't download the linked ExGFX-File; he can't find the file. Can anybody upload such a file please? |

It definitely looks very nice so far. If I could make one request, please make sure the final version goes in depth into the map 16 editor. I understand ExGFX enough to mix and match sprites from different tilesets, but I have trouble doing similar things with blocks and such due to my lack of map16 knowledge.
So, if possible, add more information on Map16 in the final version. |

yea thanks! a lot! anyways, maybe now i can get some good bgs. It's been a while since ive been either here or worked on my hack. I'm going to start working on my hack again (for those of you who just can't wait to see how great it is compared to my other wonderful demo, you've got a long wait) b/c...
I need to start from scratch. While if the slight problems from my demo were fixed it would be decent, i want to make an EXCELLENT HACK. So, i need to start over from scratch, not only so i can arrange things better (pallettes, ExGFX, levels, etc.) but so I can work on level design being fun BEFORE i put a ton of new graphics in (of course, i'll need Sprite tool and block tool; which i also need to arrange in a more organized manner in my hack) If there's ANYTHING i've learned in the 5 or so months of hacking, its that graphics arent everything. Sad that it took me this long to figure that out, huh? anyways, I look forward to starting a new great hack and testing it here. BTW There are 2 reasons i stopped my hack: 1. Anime downloading and watching (very time consuming) (InuYasha and Ranma 1/2!!) 2. MySpace |
