Company A is a useful company that many people rely on.
Company B is a similar company. Company C gets Company A shut down. Company A responds by putting more blame on company C than is due and releases personal information about some of its more high-profile customers. Impartial witness declares that if Company A was going to be so spiteful and crass, they probably had it coming and feels no sympathy when companies such as company B do pretty much the same thing but with less retard. |

If you're getting shut down like that, especially for such a lame reason, I see nothing wrong with disclosing something like what they did.
It just makes it seem suspicious. |

There isn't much private about "SCE execs bought PSPs from us".
Besides, unless there's a specific privacy policy on this kind of information... |

I've boycotted all Sony products for nearly 3 years now. The reason is simple: Their product quality is shit with right next to no durability. Wouldn't bee all too far fetched to say they deliberately make defective electronics along with crap tech support, forcing you to buy replacements thus increasing sales.

It is what we in "the biz" and, indeed, what we out of "the biz" refer to as an appeal to emotion and argumentum ad hominem. lol at that. Sony's absolutely right about lik-sang's shoddy business practices displayed here. I mean, just, wow. "Yes we did everything they say we did, but that doesn't mean we did what they say we did." I love that line. |

I don't see the problem in Lik-Sang saying that, and if you're going to hold it against them then that's kinda sad.
It's not like Lik-Sang said "so-and-so living on 12345 Main Street in Anytown, USA with his Visa card #1234567890111213 bought 5 PSP's from us". And besides, one mistake (if that's what this was) like that shouldn't justify taking an entire company and people's jobs away. |

So uh.... I'm still at a loss to understand how any copyright was infringed. Was it because they were selling a product of another company without exp |

Ahh the Laws of Supply & Demand. Sony couldn't supply Europe with enough PSP's whereas Lik-Sang could. Sony didn't like losing profits to someone "better" than them so decided to sue.

Argh... those f... a... I'm speechless. I can't think of a way to exp This is an interesting quote, though... "Lik-Sang did not contest this case (i.e. they did not turn up and therefore incurred no legal costs). We have been awarded substantial costs against Lik-Sang which have not been paid," If I read this right then they've been awarded some crazy amounts of money from Lik-Sang... I'd consider that legal costs. (edited by HyperHacker on 10-29-06 06:35 AM) |

Hmmm.. Incoherent things, the left hand does not know what the right hand does.
Sony, if you will not learn now, you won't learn later. And I just hope that till March 2007, all European homes are fitted with Wiis and X360s. |

Not that I approve of what Sony did, but they aren't the only ones to sue Lik-Sang:

Just got this off BMS
"Play-Asia restricting PS3 sales Posted by Keith - Mon 10/30 2006 - 03:45 PM Loserbait writes: In the aftermath of Lik-Sang's demise, Play-Asia is no longer sending any PS3 orders to Europe." There's an article in the link. Looks like PA thinks they're next. |

Originally posted by rubixcuber It is not a matter that Sony sued Lik.. Neither does it matter that Nintendo did in the past, that's all well and good for both of them. The "point" here is the -method- Sony used.. They filed duplicate cases against Lik in multiple different countries, effectively pinning Lik-Sang (a relatively small business) into a corner with an army of lawsuits.. Think of driving a nail into a wall with a cannon ball, that was the type of tactics that Sony used here.. they did NOT need to file the case in multiple locations like they did,. and Lik had NO HOPE of ever fighting all of that.. How "could" you fight all that? You'd be facing a lot of different types of laws and styles of lawyers.. and a very high - if not absurd - cost. Sony also goes on record to say it isn't their fault.. But clearly from Lik's statements, and the obvious issue I just listed above.. it WAS their fault. So they basically lied, full well knowing they were going to drive someone out of business. Now whether or not Lik had it coming with their "grey area" business to begin with is another story.. This case (or rather multiple duplicate cases) was filed on something unrelated.. The claimed reason for Sony suing was rather trivial, as I am sure most can agree.. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that Sony just planned from the start to snuff them out - since I doubt they even cared about the case itself, and just wanted the supplier out of the way.. Alastor made it a point earlier though.. Lik was a grey-area company and acted very spiteful in response to this, it is hard to say anyone was the good guy here.. But regardless, Sony chose some dirty tactics, and Lik was a very reliable supplier for gamers worldwide.. It doesn't bode well for Sony when you look at the full picture. |
