I'm looking for a method to cell-shade photographs. Sort of the effect they used in A Scanner Darkly. Whether it be a tutorial on how to do it in Photoshop (or prefurably GIMP) or a program/plugin that renders it for you (prefurred), I'd like to know how to do this. | |||

Well, if that's what they did, then I guess you would have to try to use the pen tool (if Gimp has it) and use layers to get the effect you want. I could easily make some simple cell shading effects using Photoshop's blending options, but I doubt Gimp gives you that power... |

Originally posted by Nebetsu It was rotoscopped actually. Some scenes were made out of mere references, like winona ryder's fake topless scene. Originally posted by Nebetsu What I usually do when I want to emulate such effect, is turning the image into B&W (not grayscale!), set it as a layer in multiply mode, and then paint it in the background with a regular brush. |
