OH GOD! Nintendo's thugs are at it again.... I mean... I never just said what I just said... yeah...

back on topic, what hex editor works best for SM64 hacking? I've tried alot of suggested ones and they kinda work, but which one is best.

I prefer XVI32. It's the best hex editor I've found so far, but I've never tried SM64 editing with it.

You still have tile-molester and hex editors

I actually have a small problem, whenever I try to click the link (on the first page) I end up getting [http://folk.ntnu.no/kenth/tm/] on my screen.
EDIT: P.S. where can I get that HexEditor thing?

Yeah, I tried modifying "Super mario 64" into "Crazy Mario 64" using it, my emulator (Project 64) said that it was from another country or something like that and didn't start emulation, and yes, the extended ROM was US.

Well I use that hex editor and I never get that type of trouble. The worst that ever happens is a checksum error, but that can be fixed by using 1964 as your emulator.

Hmm... the ROM does seem to play w/ 1964, but with messed up graphics, the worst of it is the mouse cursor doesn't work unless Options is on, I hope that TT64 doesn't have any problems with my ROM.
P.S. what's a checksum error?

If you modify the first 1MB of data in the ROM, you have to update a checksum in the header to match it, else the game's init code goes into an infinite loop. Some emulators like 1964 and Nemu force it to break out of the loop or just ignore the boot code entirely and fake it (since most games use the same code), so the games still run in them.

Lightbulb! It's working now! I think I know the true reason now at what happened! the original file I changed the name into was EXTENDED, but when I copied SM64 and tried XVI32, it worked in play, and it was NOT extended, if I'm right (about 5/100 of the time) extended files have the ABCD pattern rewritten to the ROM, or I'm just lucky..._¬

You [might] be thinking about Toad's Tool 64, which hasn't been released yet, Tile Molster can (I think) add enemies, but I never got it to work. Mabey the XVI32 can work.

XVI32 can be found on this thread, however I haven't gotten Super Wario 64 or other hacks working, ask the pros, I'm new to this.

Hey, this is somewhat off-topic, but i have been watching these forums when i was hacking pokemon roms, but i soon got more interested into hacking sm64, after hearing about the release of the sm64 editor, im just wondering if it will be out sometime soon?

Because it has been 7 days past when he said it would be released,

btw i know something must of happened and i should be patient, which i will be.

Off-topic some more, I will be currently active in the forums from now on.

READ THE THREAD BEFORE POSTING! >_< If you did, you would know! It's VERY annoying when people ask you something they can know by just looking it. Isn't it?

Tile Molster can (I think) add enemies, but I never got it to work.

o_O Tile molester is for graphics editing... And the only one who edits things that aren't graphics (only for corruption purposes) I think is me XD You need an hex editor...

Bad mistake..... Trust me, I though just the way you did, and I'm still regretting that I spent the time trying to do it.
