I wanted to open this thread in the old (new) board about a week ago, but alas, it didn't happen, so I'll do it now.
What I mean, do not just post which languages you speak, but lets define a standard sentence, wich everyone says and records, uploads that audio file and lets us listen. It also serves to learn new dialects from all over the world, and for foreing speakers, also include the same sentence in your native tounge ( I would have to) I would like to have a sentence ready, but wich english sentance would fit this community AND is translatable in other languages. (Live the fun posting experience sure isn't.) Any recommodations? |

Originally posted by Arwon I think this post proves it may be just a tad difficult to establish a common sentence. But I can't see anything wrong with that, i'd say something like this though: "Hello, how are you today? Isn't it a nice day outside?" That's pretty basic enough, don't you think? =o |

I think something extremly generic like "Hi my name is X I'm X years old and I'm from X" would be better. | |||

Or try something nice like what Bit-Blade said...
"Hello (insertname)! What hole did you come from? If it's filled with something delicious you better get me some! F*cker!" I love that line! It's freaking hilarious. |

I can't even find a good sentence to exp I like arwon's one, tought. ¡Necesito ayuda! ¡Mi perro está mojado y no tengo una toalla! Easy as cake. If you decide that one maybe I'll record it (edited by Baro on 11-18-05 10:15 AM) |

"Live the fun posting experience"
"Länge leve den roliga posterfarenheten" Geez... That's a hard sentence to translate... I suggest "How do you pronouce Acmlm in [Language Name]?" "How do you pronouce Acmlm in Swedish?" "Hur uttalar man Acmlm på svenska?" ("Acmlm" is pronounced Aah-seeh-em-el-em in swedish. NO DISAGREEING!) (Aah pronouced like A in car, eeh is pronouced like A in bay) |

"My name is WHOA. What is your name?"
It's pretty simple... let's see if I still remember German img src=images/smilies/mad.gif align=absmiddle> "Ich heiße Mike. Wie heißt du?" Anyone German that can confirm my remembering of German? (edited by FreeDOS on 11-18-05 01:43 PM) |
