I had no idea that they made the game harder. Well thats because I haven't played it yet, but looking forward to it. When playing the nes version I haven't notice that when you changed back to a knight or something your job class does go back to level 1. Are you sure it does that? Maybe it does and I just forgot about and haven't played it in awhile. Hope they changed that.

I can't remember that being the case in the original either, but it's certainly not here. The job menu even lists the level you've reached with a job next to it. Also, capacity points have been done away with. Not really that big a deal, since they barely made a difference in the original, but still, they're gone.
As for the battle speed, it's okay. Certainly not slow, though it doesn't seem like it changed that much from the original. Remember, the original games were only slow-paced if you didn't turn up the battle speed. |

Originally posted by AdamantYou're right, the only time Capacity really mattered was before the battle with Garula in that kingdom... you needed to change to 4 dragoons which took almost all of your CP that you had built up. At least it did for me. It is better without, just in case you change classes and decide that you don't want that class, then at least you'll have the ability to go back and change again/ |

As a result of job tweaking, the Scholar is now a certified boss killer. Originally, he could smack monsters with his books (which there were like 5 of in the game, and they came in sets of 3 and 2, leaving him incredibly underpowered every time you didn't just find new weapons for him), scan an enemy's HP and MP, and determine an enemy's weak point. The remake combines his two crappy abilities (the ability to see a weak point was useful against Hyne, and the other one was pure trash) into a single command (which is still fairly crappy and only useful againt Hyne), gives him the ability to cast some low-level White magic (10 extra charges of Cure is somewhat useful), andmost importantly, doubles the effect of any items he uses. And that includes doubling the power of those spellcasting items, allowing you to do an extreme amount of damage to enemies weak against a specific element by using that element's spell item against it. The Zeus Rage item allowed him to deal 2000 HP worth of damage each round towards Kraken, who went down in 3 turns. I love this game.

Now I really want this game. I should still get around to finishing FF3 (maybe I should play through again from the start) but it seems like they really put the effort into polishing it up. Great to hear. |
