Mine would have to be Silent Hill and Alone in the Dark. I just love the whole supernatural feeling of those movies, they're the only ones that actually feel like the games! My least favorite is Street Fighter, although I did have a fun time laughing at it, LOL! The only other VG movies I've seen are Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, and Super Mario Bros, and those were just ok. How about you guys?

I liked Resident Evil, and Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. I don't think either of them were especially reminiscent of the games, but taking them to be not part of the series I enjoyed them.

Metal Gear Solid will become my favorite video game movie if it's true that Koijima is writing it, directing it, producing it, and if David Hayter plays Solid Snake.
Other than that, I actually thought Super Mario Brothers was pretty funny. I normally abhor video game-related movies, but this one was worth a laugh. And then there's The Wizard... The 90 minute advertisement for Super Mario Brothers 3. My friends and I turned it off at the point where he was playing the video game with the screen covered. Laem. |

Mortal Kombat ftw, easy. Most of the other movies failed because 1, they didn't stay true to the plot of the videogames and 2, the actors sucked.

The animated Street Fighter movie and the first Mortal Kombat.
Anihalation should be forever removed from all forms and archives as a threat to humanities existence. |

*Jokingly posts Super Mario bros. the movie*
I like the japenese sonic the hedgehog anime and I love Final Fantasy 7. I can't think of anything else. Metroid and Halo will probably be on my list if they're any good. Halo looks really promising. PS wouldn't the girl who played Sonya Blade in MK be a good samus in the upcoming movie? |

How about Advent Children? Hell, that movie was more like a 2 hour cutscene.

Originally posted by the_icepenguinPost your reasoning or go die in a hole. Also, Silent Hill. Also, Mortal Kombat is absurdly overrated and is a very average movie. Also, Advent Children was pure ass. Also, anime videogame movies tend to be quite feh. Like just about all anime. You like anime, go watch something GOOD from it, like Paranoia Agent or Grave of the Fireflies. Fucking posers. Also, I only saw Spirits Within once, and I don't recall it being especially bad or anything, but it probably wasn't very good. I have no particular qualms with the statements made by others, except Grey 'cause he fails for thinking The Wizard was too bad to watch but also thinking Super Mario Bros. the movie isn't. |

And I choose Mario. Final Fantasy the Spirits Within is one of my favorite movies, but I don't consider it to be a 'video game' movie, per se. Just a movie with a video game title attached to it. Seriously, the name 'Final Fantasy' lost its original meaning a long time ago. Nowadays when I look at the FF logo, my brain just sees "Square is too lazy to think up a real name". |

I loved the video games, but I hated the movies like Doom, silent hill. The weren't even as good as the games. Resident evil 1, 2 were good movies, but liked the games better. Mortal Kombat was pretty good movie just wish they had more moves. Mario Bros movie was cool and fun and the games were fun to play. Final Fantasy movie was horrible because it had nothing to do with Final Fantasy. Advent children wasn't that good, but it was fare, liked Final Fantasy 7 better.

I liked Street Fighter II: the Animated Movie (well i felt it was a lot better than Street Figher Alpha: the movie at any rate), it was one of the few Video Game Movies that i REALLY liked, and it had good music
The first Resident Evil movie was well done, but the second one seemed way more tame and to me the story sort of collapsed as it progressed. Mortal Kombat was ok (well the first one was a lot better than the horrible sequel), though IMO i think it could've been done better still but a good move still. I hope with the next sequel they improve it rather than make it worse like Annihilation. Doom was a disappointment for me. i think a lot of people were disappointed inc. me that the story was just so off the game and had absolutely nothing to do with it. Though the FPS scene was awesome. Alien Vs. Predator was also a disappointment for me (i wish they made it more similar to "Aliens", or better yet based it of the AvP2 game |

The Wizard...because I saw it in theaters when I was its target audience. I was eleven years old. I had a monster crush on Fred Savage. I was absurdly excited about seeing SMB3 gameplay. My dad referred to that movie as "Rain Man for kids", which seems to be a pretty accurate assessment. I'm sure I would think it was cheesy and dumb now, but at the time, I thought it was great.

It seems like there are starting to be more and more movies with video game themes, huh? I've seen a few of them. I liked Mortal Kombat when I first saw it, but now that I think back, it wasn't really that great. It looks sort of... budget, lol.
I did like Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, but my favorites would have to be the Resident Evil movies. They just come closer to what a modern day movie should be like; they also have some good music. The second one was far better than the first, though. "GTA motha ****a!" |
