What a day. Jeez, I remember learning about that *just* as I was getting ready to go to school. I remember that we were banned from discussing it at the local elementary that day...

What were you doing that morning, and how did you react to the news o fthe terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center buildings?

I was already in school when I heard about it the first time. I believe it was between 10-11am. Many pupils from different classes were in the same room watching the news.

I was quite shocked. I believe that was the only thing that was discussed for several weeks.

I was late for school cuz we'd over slept and it took me a while to get mom out of in front of the TV. Little House on the Prairy was on and she went to the bathroom to get ready when it cut to the news. I was totally clueless to what was going on even when I watched it. That day woke me up to life. I knew world was full of ugly people but it turned out to be alot worse than anything I could possibly fathom.

I'd like to think that one day those people will get theirs it doesn't always work out that way I'm afraid.

Damn life is SO FUCKING UNFAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember I was pretty shocked when I found out...

...unlike the rest of my class, who found it amazing and 'cool' that world war 3 seemed to be imminent. I remember half my class being detained after an RE lesson for drawing some rather questionable cartoons of what happened on 9/11.

But yeah. We were young back then. And I still remember how shocked I was when we saw the second plane fly into the tower live on TV. Although it was pretty hard to convince my younger brother that it wasn't a film.

With ALL due respect, had it not been for the mass genocide, it would've looked kinda cool in a movie BUT it wasn't and having lost someone close, I can feel their pain.

Yeah, definately.

I mean, back then most of the people I knew didn't actually feel what many people in the US did - simply because the feeling of loss was not there for them. (And the fact that we were around 12/13 back then)

At that time, while I did see it as being something significant, I did not fully realise just how bad it was until a year or so later.

I had only gotten home from school when I heard the news. I was speachless.

I hope all the souls of those who died find peace. I also hope that things like this will never happen again.

I came home from work and then saw the message - I didn't lik the fact that it was shown on every channel for like 2 hours and there was nothing else they showed. (Now I'm glad they can't do that with the internet).

Always, when something happens I don't really care about, every channel shows it for the whole duration. I think they should just display it on one channel and not on all of them. One example where the rule was broken was during the death of this one pope (forgot how he was called), where one channel didn't interrupt their programme and showed the movie 'Die slowly' (pure coincidience or done on purpose?).

But it's the world. If some big cceremony in an industrial country happens, they interrupt every channel, but nobody cares about the like tons of deaths in India or similar.

Honestly, at the time, I really didn't understand the whole situation at hand, I was a freshman in high school, and for some reason was amazed about all the patriotism that came from it. But honestly, look at it now, it's in the past, the only time you here about it is when it's brought up in some homeland security thing. All the patriotism that was going around has since diminished. Really a sad thing considering it was only 5 years ago. Oh well.

Meh, can't go through this without the school announcements pretty much pasting images from google with a generic song and calling it flash.

Meh, I was going to say something controversial things about worse stuff that happened afterwards here but I must say that it did move me back then for five years ago.

I was trying to do some math homework, while our dad called from his job and told us to turn on the TV.

It's really been five years already? Damn.

Watched it in class in 6th grade, and me and friends laughed about it later. I really don't care for the death and destruction of others. It entertains me =\

I don't care to much, and I do think that everything's been overinflated, but I'm not so sure you should be laughing about this stuff...?

I was going to make a thread just like this since it's neat to hear about what people were doing.

I didn't know about the attacks until shortly after 10 AM. I had an early class at 8:45 and we were watching a video about research methods. Bleh. No interruptions during class or anything, so I was blissfully unaware. I left class and while nobody was outright saying what happened, there was a... weird vibe. Wasn't as noisy as usual.

Since I had 2 hours to kill, I went to the mall (right across the street) and noticed a bunch of people hanging outside the sports store, which has a TV. Usually store owners don't like people hanging around, and I thought something big had happened in the sports world. Then I saw what was on. :\ I only saw the north tower collapse live but I'm pretty sure that they showed a replay of the south tower.

The rest of the day was weird in school... both of my remaining classes were cut short because no teacher really wanted to do a heavy lesson.

I always thought that it was weird that UEFA went ahead with Tuesday's Champions League matches (which they had plenty of time to postpone and I don't think anyone would have minded) yet cancelled Wednesday's games. :\ Made for a weird sports show later where they talked about the effects of the attacks for 20 minutes then threw it over to the CL matches.

I was in a 5th grade seminar class. I was hearing "Did you hear the world trade center blew up?"

I'm all "uh, what" and didn't believe it until I saw it on the TV when I got home. :/

btw, sonicandtails, there's something wrong with you if you think that's entertaining

The only thing that has changed is the amount of racism towards muslims. It's disgusting, to be honest. I watched CNN for like 3 hours today and that's all I could see was this hatred for Al Quaeda. It just paints a nasty picture on all the other muslims and it's unfair.

It was only entertaining then, because we really didn't know what a terrorist attack would bring upon us. It was something new to us, and we thought it was cool and a change of things.

I see it now as still stupid, as we were able to stop it, and it still entertains me to watch us fight like children with other countrys.
