...Ouch. I'm never walking near sting rays again.
Yeah, I was pulling for a crocodile-related death, too. |

Killer ray 'was probably startled' -- an article based on an interview with a marine life expert.
Randy -- most people are injured in the leg or foot after accidentally stepping on them, and they usually don't seriously injure anybody. If you ever are stung by a stingray, pour hot water over the wound (don't pull out the barb) -- as hot as you can stand -- to break down the venom. This is -- well -- a freak accident to have been stung in the chest... (edited by Tarale on 09-04-06 04:29 AM) |

Either way that looks sharper then some of the saws we have here in our house, either way I never pictured him going out like that, or even that soon...

That's sad. He was a man who was passionate about teaching others about wildlife and wildlife preservation. He was an adventurous man. He was entertaining AND enlightening.
You guys can joke all you want, but it is a tragedy. I agree that a man who took so many risks was bound to have it go all wrong one day, but this wasn't a snake bite. It was a freak occurrence. I have a lot of respect for Mr. Irwin and am sad for his family. |

Yeah I fell you on that Kasdarack, a lot of people make jokes about it. I read about this some other places too and people were straight up nobs about it. It really is sad and I do wish his family the best of luck, he was an awesome, informative person.

Sad and freakish.
Unfortunately all the yucks are gonna be like "huh huh it's not surprising he was stupid for being around dangerous animals" which is a bit dumb and, given how bizzare this accident was, not at all accurate. That's the thing... it's sad... but... given how much of a larrikin Steve was, there is humour too.
Given his personality, I half wonder if Steve himself would crack a joke or two about it if he could. He's been seriously hurt before and cracked jokes all the way... ...strikes me as the type who would rather you be making jokes than being very sad... Course, I just say this cause my Dad was a larrikin; and I reckon he would always have liked us to remember him with a joke than just sadness. |

You have to admit, the irony is just amazing. Spends all his time pestering crocodiles and gets killed by a sting ray.

Steve was definately one heck of an awesome dude, with all his dicing with death and that... Just really is strange a sting ray held death's winning roll...
May he rest in peace. And may all those who ridicule his death via MSN spam go to hell. |

This just shows how much of a badass he really was. It took a puncturing of his heart to bring him down.
Truly a great loss to the crocodile hunting industry, which now has nothing, because Steve Irwin was the only one that anybody cared about. just the other day I saw that Sportscenter bit that he was on. |

In the article on the first page, as was pointed out to me..
[14:06] ... [14:06] I like how, under the picture [14:06] Whatever it says is cut off on my screen [14:06] So it just says [14:07] "LEGEND dead ... Crocodile hunter Steve Irwin was killed after he was fat" I'm assuming it was supposed to say "fatefully"? >> You'd think they'd be more careful with stuff like that. heh Looking at that barb, all I can do is cringe. I suppose when people work with anything dangerous, especially unpredictable wild animals, it's almost just a matter of time before something awful can happen. But it still sucks when it does. =/ (edited by Aiya on 09-04-06 02:51 PM) |
