This came from pure random corruption using a hex editor.
My theory behind it is Mario for the "Bowser bringing Toadstool into the castle event" is invisible. While a mini sprite (lets call him mario 2) runs into the castle. With this bit of coruption I seem to have unfrozen mario(invisible) and stoped the teleport after "mario2" moves into the castle. So basicly you can walk around on the map outside the castle. [It is mario even though you can not see the sprite] The changes made to the rom was: 1FD050-1FD05F was made FE (16 FE's) 1FD060-1FD22F was made 00 (464 00's) 1FD230-1FD23F was made FE (16 FE's) An image of at in work can be found here. So yeah other stuff that I "find" will be posted here too. -Darkdata Edit: Typo(s) for the fail. That's actually quite an interesting thought, walking around in a mini-sprite. I hope it surfaces above the one picture.

Hah! A hack made by chance! It looks pretty cool. Just a weird question but what hex editor were you using?

Hm.
Interesting find there Darkdata. By the looks of it, the castle was not supposed to scroll any further right, because that is when it cuts off. Interesting indeed |

Originally posted by S.N.N. Well of course it's suppose to cut off, obviously, because it'd be a waste of space to add anymore detail because you'd never see it. But still this is a pretty neat find. |

Mmm... Event data...
I wonder if it's already documented? If not, it should be fun to decode the event bytes. Excellent. Usually I look to see if something is already documented, but I couldn't help myself. I love event code. |
