Is there a program I can use, that can control how much data a computer can receive? My mom actively downloads using Bittorrent. As a result, playing online games is a drag because my ping is worse than it is for 56k So, is there a way I can throttle how much information is received? |

| Throttle? You can't when someone else is using most of the available bandwidth. What you could do, though, is ask for your mother to cap her download/upload rate for Bittorrent.
If your router (assuming you have one) supports it (I haven't seen one that doesn't), you could also set a cap through the router's web interface, located at 192.168.1.1 by default. You could even just limit her without telling her, if you so wished. :p |

| Hm, I dunno how good this prgram is as I havenīt tried it myself.
Itīs called Netlimiter. Or make her cap the download/upload speed like Zidane said. |

capping is not an option. I don't have a good enough reason to do so my mom says even if it is for an hour or two, nope.
i'll check out that program. |

| Don't bother. There is no other way than capping it, by whatever means. Are you using a router? You could try limiting her download/upload without ever telling her you did it, lol. | |||
