I wonder how many people in this thread actually believe what they're saying, and how many of them are just saying whatever needs to be said in order for them to get to play a hack they're interested in.

When all else fails, belittle the man's decision and mock him. THAT'S the sure-fire way to get him to go back to working on his hack.

Some of you are so transparent and shallow it's scarey.

Does anyone even write down a hard copy of the changes they made anymore? That seems almost surreal. It's hard to believe you made that many changes without writing down the asm you used.

You're probably right there, but look at it this way: Have you ever seen a hack like DahrkDaiz's?

STFU.

Actually, this is what was lost:
Pipes that lead to other worlds function
Making pipes appear on the map screen after completing its castle
Unlocking pipes
Keeping track of unlocked pipes
Keeping track of what fortresses are completed
Keeping track of what locks are unlocked
two different locks
two different keys
Display current amount of green coins you have
Display levels completed with green coins obtained
A lot of object definition altering
Water currents
Birdo
A water background tile map, allowing for background tiles that act like water
6 levels
Object redefinitions (tile mapping)
More pattern tables that can be switched out with some objects

So yeah, it's a lot more lost that what you'd think.

Yeah, you're right there. The ASM work is a lot of work, and is the most discouraging when you lose it all. It's also hard to pick up where you left off, i.e. remembering what you've hacked, what bytes you changed, as compared to your most recent work.

Come on guys.

Cut the man some slack!

Edit: Holy shit, I can't type.

You weren't glaring at me were you? >.>
I know exactly what it is like to lose a lot of the work you've finished to annoying pests. So I am 100% behind you. I hope you pick it back up again and try to work on it, as you are one of the best Romhackers here.

The "Mario Adventure 2: Dead" is simply there for added drama and attention, but it's not actually dead, something that seems to have slipped right over many people's head.

OMG! It's a hoax! HE'S ALMOST FINISHED!!!

...*Cough* Nah, just kidding.

Hey, Diaz! Hope you answer my question:
Are you least encouraged about level design? Is that the thing you're hating most about this re-do?
Remember... Your levels WILL turn out better, and many people are more than willing to design a few for you (including myself)

I'm pretty sure it's ASM related, specifically, things to deal with overworld maps. ...And it's Daiz.

Dude, just shut the fuck up and don't post anymore in here. You aren't providing any structure to this thread. You are contributing NOTHING.

Why do you seem to want to deny this? Did you secretly hate this hack or what? I'm having a hard time understanding what the FUCK the big deal is here.

DD is just discouraged that his a lot of work on his hack was lost. Therefore, he showed it in the title thread. That is it. I'll quote it again for those of you who can't read.

Now, getting back on track.
I think that a Sprite Editor would be so kick ass. There are still some things that SMB3W can't do, and some other aspects of the game that we can't hack without the correct knowledge. For those of us without that knowledge, we should all be grateful that DD is willing to make such a tool for us to enjoy, and to edit that extra aspect of the game.

Why wouldn't these notes be lost with the ROM?

I think this thread should be closed now. It's served its purpose, and it just seems to be a place for pointless arguing.
