(enters the draft)
Yeah, so there was a wee bit of a trade. The prinicpals were Todd Bertuzzi, Alexander Auld, and Bryan Allen going to Florida in exchange for Roberto Luongo, Lukas Krajicek, and a sixth-rounder. Hopefully for Panthers fans, Bertuzzi can get straightened out like he was supposed to do this season, and the Canucks are probably hoping Luongo isn't all pissy. Draft is gonna start pretty shortly, so we'll see who's on the jock of the Staal clan. EDIT: And SHOCKER OF SHOCKS the Blues took Erik Johnson. Scary to think he's 6'4", 2--OH MY GOD TRADE Colorado sends Alex Tanguay to Calgary for... Jordan Leopold, Calgary's No. 2, and a conditional No. 2 in 2007/2008. ANYWAY Pittsburgh's gonna take Staal. Wake me when the Rangers pick. Or when someone takes Semen Varlamov. (edited by drjayphd on 06-24-06 06:25 PM) (edited by drjayphd on 06-24-06 06:34 PM) |

and I'm glad wilson did not trade nabokov to the kings I'm surprised about Vancouver's trade for Luongo, is he really that good? |

He might not retire if another team takes a chance but Toronto's going to cut him loose.
I think Tellqvist is the odd one out there now. He'll be dealt. |

So much for the speculation earlier on in the draft that teams with netminder needs would wait until July 1.
Speaking of which, the Caps did, in fact, get a hot load of Semen. Any idea how Kolzig's gonna handle this injection of Semen... Varlamov? (I know his name isn't pronounced that way, BUT STILL. ) |

Habs got a third round pick from Chicago but not even our own website is telling us what we gave up. That's a little strange...

(buuuuuuuuuuuuuuump!)
So remember how the Islanders hired Neil Smith to be their GM? He's... uh, not any more. His replacement? GARTH SNOW. Yeah, the guy who was backing up DiPietro in net last year. EDIT: (snicker) Line of the day about the move: "If stupid ever goes to $60 a barrel, I want drilling rights on Charles Wang's forehead." (edited by drjayphd on 07-18-06 06:21 PM) |

Something had to be going on there. I mean, Smith hadn't done anything yet that would be considered as incompetant...
Headline on TSN's site: "SNOW JOB". |

HA HA very last thread on Page Un. Thus, bumpable.
Rick DiPietro has the kind of job security you (yes, you specifically) will kill for (I'm calling that too, by the way, and no, I won't testify for you). $67.5 million... over 15 years. Gee, what a total shocker, the Islanders sign someone to a comically long contract. Who could have imagined. (yawn) |

15 years? other than a lifetime contract, that is one of the longest contracts I've ever known in any professional sport. I wonder how many years he will be around though

This happens to be the longest contract in NHL history, correct?

NHL, yes. Second longest deal in a pro league that's still operating, behind the Lakers signing Magic Johnson to a 25-year deal. I think Steve Young got a 43-year deal from his USFL team, but they don't exist.

After tendering an offer sheet to Ryan Kesler of the Vancouver Canucks (which you can do but most GM's don't do it and it hasn't been done for years), Bobby Clarke of the Flyers with the quote of the day:
"I don't give a fuck if nobody likes me, I could care less" |
