I usually never have more than about six windows open at one time on my computer, since I find WinXP's habit of combining windows of the same program into a numbered list on the taskbar to be highly annoying.
Anyway, |

You can deactivate the window-combining feature, though. That's what I do, cuz I find it really annoying as well.

I hate when my computer does the window combining tab. I then have to scroll through all of the 5 windows to find the one I need. It is frustrating

Yep. In the control panel, go to appearance and themes, and you'll see "taskbar and start menu" in there. Uncheck the box that says "group similar taskbar buttons" and voila!
You can also right click on the start menu, go to properties, and click on the taskbar tab. |

Yeah, I can only take it when it starts going into groups, but if I disable it I can still only satnd about 5 or 6 window. I guess I just don't like having to search through groups or abbreviations

Wow, you must be a good multi-tasker

Yeah he has to be the best multi-tasker ever. How do you really keep track of all of that?

a lot of it is just me being lazy, not closing a window, then forgetting which one I needed and opening a new one (this happens rather often with explorer windows)
though some windows generally serve good purposes -- one of those irfanview windows (hint: top) is serving as my screenshot-taker |

That's pure laziness! You're to lazy to close them so they stay open, then laziness kicks in AGAIN, and you don't search for it and just open another one!
If I was just one little bit more lazy, I'd be too lazy too finish typing. One of the reasons I have so few windows is because I'm too lazy too open them in the frist place |

Yeah, I had to disable that grouping thing because otherwise I'd end up with 6 of the same window open.

That's probably the biggest reason I hate that grouping function - you get several AIM windows grouped and the button is just blinking nonstop. What rocks is using Gaim's tabbed windows, putting them on the other monitor, and disabling the flashing altogether.
Also, it's pi time in that shot. |

About as crowded as it gets.
And I hate anything other than a horizontal taskbar, on the bottom of the screen. I may start a quick-launch bar though, it sounds like it could be handy. |
