As the title says folks. Any of you have any weird and/or unusual dreams?
Like mine... last week had this weird dream of exploring some waterlogged city or town (been playing Rockman DASH 2 too much )... suddenly ended up underwater, swam as hard as I could to the surface but I lost my breath at just a foot away from the surface. Thats when I woke up in a cold sweat actually TRYING to catch my breath. Hell, scared me a bit. It did scared Kristi when I woke her up abruptly... Weird in my case... |

I don't usually sleep well enough to remember any dreams these days.
When I did they always ended up with a recurring theme. The dreams themselves could be weird, but I won't go into that. They always ended on a huge bridge. Huge. High above the city. We're talking skyscraper high. And it is always thronged with multitudes of people (all on foot) in some sort of mass exodus. I actually enjoy this dream. It doesn't feel scary. It somehow feels right... like destiny feels right. Weird, I know... (edited by Kasdarack on 07-13-06 11:48 AM) |

I rarely have weird dreams (in fact, I rarely have dreams at all, to my dismay -- probably my sleep schedule, or lack thereof), but two days ago I had a weird one in the sense it was my first lucid dream.
The lucid part lasted a whole 3 seconds before I woke up. D'oh. (you don't want to know the details) |

Well, I just had this freaky dream yesterday problalby for seeing Smallhacker's Comics before I fell asleep. Well, all I can remember was SH was making a flash and I was just some made-up character he had put in to be killed like Mario on ROTMK1; being killed with Bullet bills and Banzai bills; and some of my worst fears (anacondas, bees, spiders, my mom). Then SH clicked play and as soon as a bullet bill touched me, I woke sweating like hell and I almost threw up! Smallhacker is evil...... | |||

I rarely have dreams anymore thanks to the heat (which is extreme here in the desert), but when I dream something, I either dream about things outside my flat or something on my computer (usually a game or this board).
I had weird dreams when I was a kid. The one I remember the most is the 'elevator dream', where I dreamed of an elevator spazzing out, then going to floor -2461 (or similar), and seeing a secret lab. I dreamed this almost every night. Thank god it's over... |

There was the dream where I blew up aliens with telepathic powers and an evil metallic kapu-kapu. When they went to counter-attack me, I leaped into a 1950's cop car and drove off, somehow pulling off a "Broderick Crawford.' Then I basically climbed over fences in some random neighborhood.
...Then there was the time a Polar bear chased me all the way from Alaska to my room. And the time I destroyed an evil lego man by screaming at it in ultrasonic tones. Once I also did a roleplaying session in my mind with a GM who, at the time, was AWOL and unlikely to be seen again. That was freaky. |

Nothing beats being in a dream where you know you're dreaming. As for the actual topic, I have had some, but I can't recall any right now. Let me get back to you tomorrow morning. (edited by peter_ac on 07-13-06 07:07 PM) |

Originally posted by Forte.EXEDuring normal sleep, the vast majority of your muscles become paralyzed. The heart and lungs don't, though, to prevent you from. You know. Dying. You pretty much have full control over your waking lungs when dreaming, and if you are not recieving oxygen, you're awakened so you can deal wth the problem and not die. Thus, holding your breath in your sleep causes you to wake up. Unless there's something seriously wrong with you. It's a trick I sometimes employ, since a good 80% of my dreams are lucid and sometimes I just get so sick of them. |

I hate those dreams were you're running away from something hostile, and your legs like turn to rubber or whatever and you can't move, then you wake up right before whatever it is attacks you. Or you're falling then you wake up. I use to have those frequently.
I too have a bad habit of staying up late doing whatnot, playing games, building with K'nex, so forget most of mine, but ever since I quit homeschooling, I had a few dreams here and there about me and some friends I made at school, usually doing the most random think you can make up (like flying, sailing, rollerskating, or whatever else). |

I had a dream that a polar bear jumped out of a bush and chased me. It made a very familiar noise... When I woke up, my dad was snoring loudly in the next room.
There's this other dream where I was in 4th grade for some reason. I had a hockey stick, and a dense puck. I did a slap-shot, and it smacked a metallic pole, creating a loud "clang!", and for some unknown reason, I found it funny in the dream. I woke up laughing, and stopped. I sat there for about 10 minutes, just wondering why it was so funny. I've had only 1 lucid dream, and it was when I asked someone if it were a dream. The answer was "yes", and I remembered nothing beyond that point. I wish I had more lucid dreams, so I can try to attempt some Jackass stunts and other things that mostly have to do with running on top of buildings. Although it'll probably be very possible in them, since dreams tend to be fantastic. |

I remember one dream I had where I was somehow immortal, and the universe was destroyed by a volcano amplifier or something. I was floating around in a void with a chicken and a streetlight for all eternity. That last part was the one that really was bizarre. There are more, but I'll save them for another post. |

I just had a particularly weird one. I was shopping in some mall of some kind. I was in one shop and found something I wanted to buy. (It was a long tube. It might have been wrapping paper.) Somehow, I end up in the store across the way while still holding that object, but knowing I hadn't yet bought it. I couldn't go through the door or the alarm would set off, and for some reason a giant timer was ticking down for the time I had left to purchase the object. I say to myself I need help and suddenly my English teacher walks in and says she can help, but I woke up. Oddly enough, she entered the room as a giant rubber ball, bouncing at 45 degree angles off the bookcases. (I was in some kind of bookstore).
Yeah. |

Originally posted by Forte.EXE I had a similar experience when I was a teenager. I drove a car off the end of a jetty in mine, plunged the vehicle underwater, and watched as the water level inside the car slowly rose. I also awoke in a cold sweat, gasping for air. I am unsure how long I'd been holding my breath in my sleep. I tend to have a lot of strange dreams, but that was the one that kinda freaked me out the most. |

I usually dream of living in some kind of futuristic flying war-torn citadel with mechs and satellite weapons and the like.
Sometimes I do not dream at all, and when I do, it depends on my mood. If I'm feeling shitty, I dream of Castlevania-like monster-infected structures hovering in a freaky dimension. If I'm feeling happy, I dream of castles in the sky and me flying around with some buddies. If I'm feeling horny, well, you get the idea. |

My most common dreams actually if I think about it are the kind you have when it's nearly time to get up, but you don't want to.
The dreams where you actually DO get up... and get ready for work, and go to work.... and it fools you into staying in bed a little bit longer... cause you think you're actually being productive... Then you wake up, realise you're not showered, dressed and ready for work, and you're now running late, and go "aww shit". I seem to have a severe problem with those kinds of dreams now. |

Meh, those kinda of dreams only happened to me twice before... the first time I had this dream experience was 4 years ago. ... I dunno if experiencing death in your dream would count as unsual or just a weird-ass nightmare. All I remember from that kind of dream is being the only person left on the planet seconds before it blew up. Floated in this eternal white light before waking up falling off my bed and smashing my face onto the floor. |
