Um... yea there are patches that you can add to change the music... they have one for SMB3 music and another for SMB1 music

Try SMW central... they have all sorts of SMW hacking stuff there... and custom music is very hard to put into a game. It requires that you know a lot about the way the SNES' music works, and it also requires that you know how to insert the music... which for custom music can take hours of sequencing and superior knowledge of ROM hacking as well. The most advanced hackers on this forum will even tell you that editing the music in a ROM is a pain in the ass. but the link to SMW central is provided by Alastor the Stylish in his rules/ helpful links thread at the top of the page (edited by TeRaByTe88 on 07-13-06 02:38 AM) |

Originally posted by Bio.exeOriginally posted by rctxtreme When i get pissed off i talk "odd". And anyway, WTF is SPC700 ASM??? I want to attempt to get some stupid track from another snes game, and insert it in a really stuffed up hack of smw that will still RUN PROPERLY AND CAN BE COMPLETED. I know, sounds weird. And I'm not sure if I'll aim to beat Chaos CompleXX. And why the heck do I want to do this hack? I'm so bored these days, and I'm only in high school so yeah... it's for personal entertainment, and perhaps even for others. Originally posted by TeRaByTe88 What about NES? Is it easier? Check out Strange Mario Bros 2 by acmlm... the choose player screen freaks me out a bit "na na na na num" into "naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa na na nuuuuuuum" (edited by rctxtreme on 07-13-06 02:42 AM) (edited by rctxtreme on 07-13-06 02:42 AM) |

No... you still have to be an accomplished hacker to edit the music and its still requires you know ASM... and that really isnt custom music in Strange mario 2 its more like editing the instruments, sort of like you can do with the Sonic One Music Editor (SOME).. if you want to get involved in hacking, I suggest you first try editing the levels or graphics of a simple game like SMB1 to get yourself accustomed... then after you become wise in the art of ROM hacking you can learn ASM and tweak things a bit.

i DO rom hacking, but i just cant be bothered releasing them... i have mi3, smb2 discombobulator, smb3 discombobulator, nesticle, smbtool international, windhex32...
i've done palette hacking (nesticle+windhex32), level hacking, graphics hacking (nesticle)... but it's just too easy |

Then learn ASM... basically ASM consists of editing a dissasembly of a ROM and adding things called subroutines to it... by learning ASM you will be able to do many things such as add new enemies or items into a game... if you just play Mario Adventure by DD, or check out screens of his new Hack Mario Adventure 2 you will see the benefits of knowing ASM...
