Apparently they 'ripped' backgrounds off of DW: TLC for Sprite Comics. By 'ripped' I mean they took random pictures and removed Mario and other sprites. Quite a few of them. What strikes me the oddest is that they say they got permission from FuSoYa. Anyone else think this is oddly humorous? (edited by Stephan Reiken on 07-08-06 10:49 PM) |

What strikes me the oddest is that they did a crappy job. Contrary to the name, all they are is a bunch of pictures of various levels off the game with the sprite layer and Layer 3 turned off. In fact, some levels literally have screenshots of almost every part of the level. At any rate, these are not backgrounds - they are screenshots of various parts of the game without the status bar or sprites; only the foreground and background.
So in other words, nothing to worry about here. It's so unprofessional that it won't be of any use to anyone. (edited by asdf on 07-08-06 11:16 PM) |

Permission from Fu is like getting permission from God in golden ink. I doesn't happen...
Yes, those screens are indeed crappy. I cannot even see them be of any use in sprite flashes, they are so bad. |

I recall seeing those before I downloaded DW:TLC... making secret exit hunting easy if I gave up and didn't want to pester the forum. (Which is what (edited by ZTaimat on 07-09-06 12:23 AM) |

The correct way to rip backgrounds involves turning off all other layers and hacking your character's coordinates (or building a level in which you can jump around to see all of the background). Or copying it from a tile editor. | |||

What I found funny is that he says the graphics were ripped from noncommercial games, yet that's from SMRPG. |
