but this isn't as noobish as you think it is.
You know all the new PC games like Doom 3, Call of Duty, etc. Well, my PC Sucks. That's right. With a capital S! It's a Compaq, made somewhere around 99 or 2000. So, I am looking for a computer game that is fun, and made by a real company, like Hasbro or something, so it's fun but still doesn't hog your processer. Any links? |

Cave Story is the very definition of the bee's knees, but since it doesn't fit your "real company" criteria, I suppose it's out of the question. Too bad!

Wrong forum!
2000, eh? Get something that is strategic. I suggest, personally, Cossacks: Napoleonic Wars. |

Err, sorry. About the forum thing.
I have Cave Story (which in my opinion is one of the best games ever) Thanks for that strategy games tip. I heard about a new game that I don't know if it fits my pc standards - something like Darwinia - it sounded fun but I don't know... |

Maple Story, Oni, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (2), Doom 2, Duke Nukem 3D and Unreal Tournament are all good bets. Or just get an emulator and some ROMs.

Darwinia is absolutely sickeningly good. There are also some pretty fun zombie sims my friends and I used to play.

Any of Baldur's Gate I or II, Icewind Dale, Return to Krondor, and both Fallouts are amazing, if it's an RPG you're looking for. The first two are perhaps my favorite games ever, and are several years old so are probably quite cheap also. The third, Icewind Dale, runs on the same engine as both Baldur's Gates but it more hack-and-slash and action than RPG. Nobody's ever heard of Return to Krondor, but it's cheap and has a wonderful storyline; it's a bit short, though. Fallouts I and II are post-apocalyptic RPGs, very non-linear and not the average "elves and fairies" fantasy game, but wonderful nonetheless.

I think Darwinia is a good bet, it's just I can't get the freakin demo! DANG!
Ahem, I like any type, I just can only have the 2D or lesser-graphics ones. But thanx for the tips...again! |

Heh, I bought Star Wars Battlefront 2 a few weeks ago, and I've already spent more money up-grading the computer than the game cost. Overall, I'm going to spend about $250, about $50 for the game, $200 for everything else (well, I didn't pay for all of it, my mom paid for some of it). I needed another hard drive, so I got a 120GB external one from Radio Shack that was on sale (it was $200 by itself), I was a few MB short of RAM, so I bought some more of it (my new total is 760MB), and apparently I need some video card or something… here's the receipts:
Wal-Mart: Star Wars Battlefront: 2 (it said software, but whatever) $49.94+6%(tax)=$52.94 Gaming Pad: (I need this!)$19.97+6%=$21.17 Radio Shack: Network 120GB Hard Drive: $79.97+6%(*looks for a subtraction sign in the Character Map, but doesn't find one*…I guess I'll just have to go with an En Dash)–$15(coupon)=$69.77 A some video rental store that also works on/sales computer(s)/parts: 512MB DDR RAM: $70+6%=$47.20 Video Card Thing I Haven't Bought Yet: 90 some dollars Total: Over 281.08 …Whoa… that's more than $250…. Well, anyway, the point is… uh…well…. I maybe wouldn't try that Cave Story thing, but if it means possibly adding another user bar to my bio, then I'll try it! Edit: Forgot a smiley. Yes. Anyone who thinks Cave Story is boring is not a good person. I fell in love with that game... You should seriously get that game. I found mine on gamehippo.com.
-Off subject!- Yeah, exactly why I don't want to spend >$250 on upgrading my system. So I am looking for a good game. Darwinia seems good, but I can't find any specs. And something you pay for, cause 99% of the time commercial games overrule freeware (0.1% goes to Cave Story) |

Go play IVAN.
It's an amazingly good (though amazingly hard) roguelike. And it's free. So go play it. |

Wow...never mind. My computer got a huge upgrade (2.4 Ghz, baby!) and I think I can handle it from here. Thanks!
