You can't make lava act like water, but I guess you can make it look like water (see the snowman level, there's water that acts like lava) Or maybe if lava is an object too then you can change it to water... i don't know, just wait to the editor and see it (edited by Shiryu on 06-29-06 04:37 PM) |

sorry for the misplaced hello i was just writing the post and it was my first so i just stuck it in there. and uh yeah i dunno if i would be able to change the lava into water but i imagine I'd have to add a bottom so the player can't just swim into an endless void. (it would look stupid.) | |||

You can't add stuff, you can only change existing objects and sprites. Adding Goombas to the arena means you have to delete some other stuff, like... the bombs to kill bowser. | |||

ummm... sprites are objects... =P (not really, they are part of 2D objects, but whathever) Is the whole terrain a giant object? if so, we could replace it with another one like for example a floaring Island, or we could move it. AFAIK, the first version will only let you change objects into other objects and move them. You can't add or remove objects or edit the terrain. | |||

I didn't find it insulting as is, but it gave me the impression that many simply didn't care if my own editor never saw the light of the day. (Because it doesn't run on linux and is built using a bloated "proprietary" platform?). The reaction from many here shows that many do care about my editor. Like I told before, the release of my editor will help people build an open-source version. About the logo: Well it's not a final logo. I wanted to include Toad in a splash screen, not in the title logo. What I envisioned on the splash-screen is Toad operating a big crane, lifting an object in some level from M64. I would like the splash screen to be 3d rendered, not pixel-art. As much as I like pixel-art, this is Mario 64 we're talking about... I would be happy if someone that is really good in 3d design could build a 3d crane with Toad sitting at its commands. It wouldn't have to include the level BG and object being lifted, I would do the layering myself. I wouldn't want amateurish designs, Toad must look like the real deal. So if someone thinks he has the talent to do it, just tell me here or via private message. I'm very picky about things like that, so I might reject any design I don't like. I would think that a level has a "water level" that is dynamic (see Hazy Maze Cave or the outside of castle level for example), rather than being some insertable object.
I don't remember lava levels being dynamic (correct me if i'm wrong), so they may be implemented in a completely different way. |

Short answer: NO Long answer: it is POSSIBLE. but that would require to overwrite completely the code of the flame to create a new object. Not to mention that we don't know anything about even where is located its data and posibly there won't be space for this. So you can't. (edited by Shiryu on 06-30-06 01:01 PM) |

I'll just stick with inputing flames and leaving them to their original purpose, but my idea was to turn bobomb battle field into some sort of bob-omb hell. (just making it a lava level) |
