Hey y'all, lets talk about the BCS and all the amazing things it's done for the world of college football. Or just talk about what games you're really looking forward to.
First off, my Irish are going to finish off the season with two more victories over the Cuse and Standford. I'm hoping we end up going to the fiesta bowl and playing Alabama, that would be a great game. Especially if my pops can get tickets to the game. Who thinks that USC doesn't stand a chance against Texas and that USCs only hope is Reggie Bush going for 10 touchdowns and 500+ yards of rushing? Cause I sure do, Matt Lienart is nowhere near as good as he was last year and Reggie Bush is probably the greatest rushing back I've ever seen play in my life, pro or college. And finaly, the Heisman, I'd say it's a guaruntee for Reggie Bush if USC wins the national championship and if not it's a toss up between Reggie and Vince Young. |

I think an OSU-ND bowl would be a great matchup, and those two teams are probably the two most deserving of the at-large BCS bids. I just wish we (OSU) could play USC, I'd love to see our defense try to shut them down. I bet it'd be a great game. Oh well, I'll be rooting for the Longhorns in the Rose Bowl (assuming USC and Texas win out).

I'm rooting for Boston College thanks to a kid from my high school playing for them.
I know they're bowling for sure with 8 wins, but where exactly are they gonna go? CBS says the Meineke Car Care Bowl, USA Today says the Champs Sports Bowl. I guess we'll find out next week. |

Uhm, what. They haven't been killing everyone, but their two closest games were against Notre Dame and Fresno State, who, might I mention, is still ranked #16. Vince Young's been balling out of control, yes, but USC's just a more complete team. |

Well, considering Reggie went for 513 in his game against Fresno St., SC does have a chance. All I'm saying is that USC lives and dies on Bush in the important games. If it wasn't for Bush we (ND) would've destroyed USC. Same with Fresno St. And as I see it Reggie is a shoe in for the Heisman as long as they win out, and if SC loses to Texas in the Rose Bowl then it's gonna be a tossup between young and bush.

Would love to see USC and Texas square off for the National Championship. (Pure awesomeness)
As for my Heisman prediction: |

Right now I just can't see how Vince Young could get the heisman. I mean, he's definately number 2 and there really isn't anybody else that should be on the list. The thing is Reggie is on such an awesome platform of play, I'd venture to say he'd be one of the NFLs best running backs, where as Young is a great, nay, amazing college player. He's got some things to improve, but he'll do that next year, when him and my boy Brady Quinn can square off for the Heisman.
Speaking of which, I'm excited as hell cause my boys Brady Quinn and Jeff Samardzija are both likely to win the top qb and reciever awards respectively. What a great year for the Irish. Next year's gonna be amazing. |

Wow, today kinda sucked if you were planning BCS bowls.
No. 5 LSU? Punched out by significantly lower-ranked Georgia. No. 3 Virginia Tech? Getting pummeled by unranked Florida State. (FSU indeed...) So who's in? * USC * Texas * Georgia * West Virginia * Penn State * (pending) Florida State Plus an assortment of wild-card teams. Oof. |

Those six, Notre Dame (*cough*LOCK*cough*) and... who? One of LSU or Tech? Auburn?
When's the deadline to pick anyways? |

Yeah, interesting stuff, and now it's a definate that USC and Texas should be playing in the Rose Bowl considering how attrociously they beat on their last opponants. God, that was entertaining stuff. Right now I'm thinking the BCS bids are gonna be
Rose Bowl- USC v. Texas Fiesta Bowl- Notre Dame v. Ohio State Sugar Bowl- Georgia v. Oregon (not too sure about this one) Orange Bowl- Penn State v. W. Va. And ND was a lock from day one, as long as we're eligible for an at large we get chosen. Why? Cause we travel like none other, spend like it's nobodies business, and leave cities in relatively good condition. |

Rose Bowl (Jan 4th, 8pm)
1USC vs. 2Texas Orange Bowl (Jan 3rd, 8pm) 3Penn State vs. 22Florida State Sugar Bowl (Jan 2nd, 8:30pm) 7Georgia vs. 11West Virginia Fiesta Bowl (Jan 2nd, 4:30pm) 4Ohio State vs. 6Notre Dame So, two losses by LSU and Virginia Tech gives OSU and Notre Dame the automatic bowl bids, and I get my wish-- An OSU-ND bowl game. That will be a great one, and I just might go see it. (edited by NSNick on 12-04-05 07:49 PM) |

question--why is FSU in? Two weeks ago, they weren't in the Top-25. Makes me wonder if a non Top-25 team has made it into a BCS bowl?

They got in because they're one of the champions of the six major conferences. If it wasn't for that upset, they wouldn't even be NEAR the BCS bowls.

speaking of conference championships, the Big 12 championship was a joke...
but anyways, USC and Texas most likely be a shootout? |

I think Texas' defense will be good enough to hold USC to a reasonable score. I don't think the same can be said for USC's defense, though...

Still, the winner gets in. :\ Same deal with conference tournaments in basketball; a team with only 12 wins all year could somehow shock everyone and advance to March Madness, although their seeding would likely be crap. That's part of why I like following the b-ball tournament... even if you've blown your chance to be selected as an at-large, there's still a chance for you to sneak in.
USC and Texas will be FUN if their ass-kickings this weekend are any indication. Ohio State/Notre Dame should be interesting as well. |

Everyone on campus is making bets with their friends who aren't from ND that the ND v Ohio state game will get more people watching it than the USC v. Texas game. It'll be interesting to see, I think they'll both get basically the entire nation watching. They'll both be increadible games, can't wait til the 2nd to rush the field after ND beats Ohio. |
