Hey, can anyone recommend a good program or method for viewing and editing the sprites in Zelda 3? It looks like Hyrule Magic can't do this. Also maybe small things like the flowers that move, grass cutting, bomb explosions, etc. Any info would help a lot.

This program runs in DOS? When I click the icon it will open, then minimize. I remember this happening before when I tried using it. It may just be my computer sucking. If not, what do I press to start my computer on DOS mode, or should I just figure out DOSBox? Sorry, this is some new territory for me. Also there are many tile editors out there, I'll mess with a few anyways, but can anyone reccomend their favorites?

Even I can answer this.
You have to open command prompt. Go to start -> run. Enter cmd if you run Windows 2000/XP or command if you run 9x. Then navigate (using the command cd) to the folder containing the program. (edited by Boom.dk on 06-24-06 05:52 PM) |

Originally posted by VinceIPfor zcompress its not that hard really. for me only 2 commands are ever used (which are decompress and recompress into the rom) and as for directing it to the program/rom/gfx files themselves you can just drag the file from its folder into the command prompt and it will fill out its exact location on ur hard drive. e.g. c:/zelda/gfx/zelda3.smc for me. |

Okay, so I went to my start menu, then to run..., I entered the path, and it does the same thing it did when I clicked on the icon (open, then immediatley minimize or close). I think I have windows 2000, Boom.dk said: Enter cmd if you run Windows 2000/XP or command if you run 9x. Does this mean I have to add something else (a command) to the destination: C:\zcompress\ ??
I know this is proably simple to do, but I just cannot figure it out. Also I have little exp. with DOS, so that could be a factor. |

Boom.dk specifically said:
he/she never said to enter the ROM or ZCompress path in the Run box. those steps are to be performed one after the other; hence Boom.dk's usage of "Then". read them again three or four times, pausing in between, then try it again. i'm sure you'll get it right. |
