Thanks. Yeah, I know it's small but you know... the size limitation of attatchments. (edited by Boom.dk on 06-10-06 12:54 PM) |

Wow. You need to finish that up and make a full 3 - 4 minute long remix. It'll be great, man. I love this.

Haha. Do you really think it's that good? Well, I plan on finishing it but 3 - 4 minutes...
Oh well, I might come up with something weird. |

That is awesome. Throw in some reverb and a strange obscure sci fi movie quotes, and you got yourself a decent Trance ballad right there.

Mkay, now I get to comment...
1: You have a solid base set up... that is GOOD... however, you cant do anything with just a solid sound base... 2: Throw in a countermelody when you move into the second loop through. You need something fresh and new to compliment what youve already done. 3: Experiment with similar instruments with what you have right now. For some reason, I think electric bells or something of the like would work later on... 4: Later in the song, just drop all melodies and let the backround play... thats always a cool touch. 5: Countermelody by itself? 6: Try composing a new short section to go along with everything else. 7: Close with a big finish... or let it slowly taper off, you decide Those are just some things that I think can help your little musical experiment along |

This is a nice start, though after hearing DL_DrillNB so many times it's starting to get on my nerves XD, that aside, this does have potential. Your harmonies are just a little bit off, but it's still alright.
I'm going to try to make a few suggestions without trying to 'take over' or what not. To build up on KATW's suggestions, on similar instruments, perhaps introducing a 303 bass line later on would be cool (doesn't have to be distorted necessarly), this could sound really cool when it gets to KATW's suggestion number 4 (I love that kind of variation too, I blame SMB2 [USA Version] partly ), with that DrillNB drum loop too. I think this tune has a common countermelody that's used partly as a harmony, that might be of use, of course something original can work just as well. The "end part" as you say, imo, did not sound "meh", I quite liked it. I could suggest to, try introducing your own chord progression modifications, but if you do, don't go too overboard. Introduce some more varying percussion and not just that one drumloop, even if it's as subtle as another set of hi-hats. Err, there you have my random suggestions and slight criticism, don't be offended, just giving my 2c. Nice job and keep up the good work. |

I'm sorry about the drumloop. xD
I did this mostly out of boredom, but I'm happy with the criticism, and I will see what I can do. Edit: OMG! I just got the sickest idea! xD (edited by Boom.dk on 06-12-06 03:32 AM) |

haha, nice. With the drum loop I think you could keep it in, but variate it a little bit, especially for fills and stuff . Instead of using that simple volume fade on the Tetris A melody, you should try automating the cut-off filter (don't do both at the same time).
Here is an example of variating the drum loop, this is part of a song that I did a few years back, back when the only drum loops I had were the ones that came with FL Studio xD. I didn't actually variate it that much. Though you could variate it enough so that even if you don't follow the original accents of the drum beat, you can come up with something original, just play around with those slices after all, they are sliced for a reason (edited by DJ Bouche on 06-14-06 06:52 AM) |
