If it isn't too much trouble, could someone replace the cape feather *gag* with a Koopa Shell Powerup like the one in the New Super Mario Bros greatest...game...ever)?

I could easly adapt the code I used to make the koopa suit in smb3 in smw, but I'm planing only doing so when I will make a TRUE smw hack(and not a ASM-only hack)

Meh, I won't be disapointed. I'm just making a SMW Hack using an unlocked version of peter_ac's Lost Levels DX. And I wanted to give it a semi-modern feel by giving it a Power UP for the latest game.

Originally posted by Xeruss Speak for yourself. I split Mario in 2 so he's got a Shadow Mario form and a regular form, both of which have unique jumps. I'd like to go in a different direction from that but I don't have any good ideas. No, Koopa Mario is not a good idea. Automatically turning into a shell when you run-- feh! I believe Peter_ac's Racoon patch is a new powerup(ish).

Not really. It's just a horrible hack of Cape Mario.

I can't belive you guys didn't like the Shell! That was awesome! Well, how about a Mega Mushroom? It doesn't have to destroy object, just make you invicible. And is it possilbe to make certain power-ups unusable in Boos Battles?
Cirvania Cyball I guess this is as close as Xkeeper will get to spell it right. :< Since: 11-17-05 From: The Island of Puerto Rico. Last post: 6432 days Last view: 6431 days |

A Mega Mushroom would require an OBSCENE amount of coding, not to mention a new tilemap for Mega Mario (which would take several GFX files due to his size).
If you've got a hankering for giant Mario awesomeness, I would suggest you take up SM64 hacking instead. And the "making powerups unusable in boss battles" thing. Why the hell do you want to do that? Unless you mean disabling the reserve item box... |

Heh heh heh... if you went for a pixelated Mega Mario like in the Super Paper Mario screenshots, you could draw a Mega Mario in considerably fewer tiles.
Playing as an invincible character tends to totally blow, though. That's why Mario doesn't just have Star Power all the time--who'd want that? |

Originally posted by Cirvante Because, the Mega Mushroom'd make boss battles easy. Can't beat Bowser, you just use a Mega Mushroom! No. Not in a hack of mine! And, forget it. I thought the Mega Mushroom'd be easy (I am such a coding n00b...) because there's a Mushroom Power UP in SMW, |

That doesn't even make sense, though. The change from small mario to super mario is completely incomparable to the change from super mario to mega mario

Originally posted by Xeruss Shadow Mario wouldn't swim in any water, and that's because I hand-coded the game to make it so. I still think a Mario that walks through water could be a fantastic gameplay device in the right area. As for the special jump, it's already been replaced. Originally posted by Alastor the Stylish From a technical standpoint, yes, but if you don't know how that works... all you see is Mario getting bigger. If I had to guess I'd say this guy doesn't know a whole lot about SNES coding. |

Well duh. And that doesn't make it not a stupid question. (edited by Alastor the Stylish on 06-12-06 06:19 PM) |
