Thanks to Bio for coding a huge ASM hack for me, I was able to animate up to 128 8x8 tiles on the overworld! So here's what World 1 of SMW: Return to the Mushroom Kingdom now looks like.

4 things:
1. The orange border came out all scratchy in the animation for some reason.
2. I realised after I made the GIF, that I left out the water path between 3 and 4.
3. Most other animations you see here are from SMA4.
4. Massive thanks to Bio for coding this!

Anyway, comments? Questions? Suggestions?

these dot are corruption that've been caused when you converted the image to gif

Rad.

Bio, that is awesome. Will you maybe release your work sometime? I don't think anyone here would not appreciate it.

Amazing work, Bio and pete! That OW looks super. The grass looked like it was the hardest one to animate, since it moves a whole bunch of different directions.

I don't know the trees look like they have aprox 5 frames of animations (2 that are re-used)...look at the other animations and i'm sure at least a couple of the other animations also have that many frames of animation

Looks cool!

This is pure awesome.

Now it is no longer necessary to manually replace the original animations.

Please release this, Bio. I'm begging you here!

If you made everything dance, I'd try smoking pot while playing your hack! Haha!
I've never played the GBA version of Allstars thus never seen those trees dance before. I would like to see if I could make a faster animation than that because my overworld looks a bit like a roulette table.

That's pretty cool. Of course, I think the graphics are a tad bit scary. I can see how it would be traumatizing...

Still pretty cool to have done.

I wish I was Bio's friend

No seriously, that is one of the greatest things I've seen come out of a SMB3 SMW hack. Bio, your work is excellent.

As for the way the overworld itself looks. It's suprisingly not excessively busy-looking, despite the large amount of animation. ++ points there. The small grass animation looks a little off; it flutters, stops in place, then flutters again. It looks quite odd.

The Yellow Switch Palace looks like it's about to teeter over the edge into the water. All you'd need to do there is extend the land out a bit more and it would be fine.

The bulb-tree's shadow looks... wrong. Either remove it (the shadow) entirely or extend it a bit.

There's a gold coin tile sitting near the upper right that seems to serve no purpose. Dunno if Mario goes there after clearing the castle, but there's no path, and it looks out of place.

Your OW is fantastic overall. It's mainly nit-picky things that are wrong with it.

I have to say, that's pretty impressive... though shouldn't Yoshi's House (or the sprite that looks like it, anyway) have some smoke? (And that's pretty much the only complaint I have)

Awesome work there Bio and peter_ac. I think, I would start hacking SMW again, if someone could implement those animations into my hack.

I like it a lot, all of the doodads smiling and dancing at me! The only thing that I'd like to suggest is to put the smoke puffs on top of Yoshi's house, or something like that.

Incredible work! Keep it up

Mih. The implementation isn't so great, I think.. It feels too much the same. But I can definitely appreciate it. I could definitely have used something like this working with my lava animation...

here the release, the code work by swapping the first OW GFX file, the list of pointer for the GFX file to load(in SNES adress) is located at 0xE0241(each GFX file are 1000 bytes in size, here the format used:
adress for frame 1, 00,adress for frame 2, 00 etc.
the default value use the whole ROM bank 1D

the file also contain a file that contain the original game animation to restore it after you applied the patch

I hope I make it clear because that system is hard to explain
