After playing all the tracks of Mario Kart DS, I've noticed that there is only one Rainbow Road, a non-retro one. However, having all four classic rainbow roads in one cup would really be enjoyable, but at the same time, kind of annoying...
SMK: Look, no walls! AHHH MK64: "How much farther is this?" MKDD: Very good. MKSC: Boing! Boing! Boing! I myself really agree to the idea, but what does everyone else think? Should there have been a Rainbow Cup or not? |

Yes, there should have been one, indeed, it would be fun to play the MK SC one through wifi.

DAMN THOSE ELECTRIC THWOMPS!
Seriously, only thing I've ever hated about any Rainbow Road. I've liked them other than that little detail in the SMK one. So, yes. |

MKDD's was alright, but I have played levels with pipe things like the one there in WiFi... The graphics screw up badly.
SC's and SMK's were dull. MK64's was just. So. Long. So no, I don't think it'd work. |

MK64's didn't need to be THAT long. Maybe they could have, but it can probably wait for another edition.

Yes. Rainbow Road FTW. I liked all of them, 'cept the electric thwomps. 'Course, those weren't that hard to avoid.

I loved the Double Dash one, it's pretty exciting. Sharp corners with no guardrails and boost pads littered about tends to make things entertaining (especially when you have 3 wheels off the edge and still make it ). Super Circuit's is kinda fun too, although a Mushroom practically guarantees victory. (That's what makes it especially fun when you're just racing the AI out of boredom, but otherwise, it's a bit of a problem.) SMK's... had nice music , and MK64's is fun with a turbo hack. If they just cranked up the max speed to ~80km/h for that track it could be pretty cool.
So yeah, I've thought about this before, there really should have been a Rainbow Cup. I guess the DS might have trouble rendering the DD and 64 versions though. |

More tracks and more cups is always better in my book. I ALWAYS feel like there should be more tracks whenever I finish any Mario Kart game. I feel a little cheated when 'Mirror Mode" is unlocked..I think that's a cheap way to add replay value.
MK DS was real nice in the track department..it had what... 32 tracks..yes 16 were not new but they sure felt new to me with better graphics, sound and wi-fi. I think the original MK may have had more tracks though. The greatest would be if they re-made ALL previous MK tracks (battle arenas too) with at least MKDD graphics with online play..8 player at least...ALL previous power-ups and of course new tracks and power-ups. And how about some weather effects..I think those are loong over due. Some snow levels have had snow falling, but I want to see some rain and fog effects that affect driving...just a little. I also think a pure Rainbow Road cup might be a little cruel in single player mode. Have you guys ever noticed how the CPU drivers suddenly become freakin Perfect/Cheap/Mean-ASS drivers. I swear to God. lol In every MK, I always breeze through special cup with 1st place finishes easy..then boom, get like 4th or 5th in rainbow road cause the CPU goes freakin Mario Andretti on my ass. |

I must be one of the few peoples who liked the super-long MK64 Rainbow Road. Although those Chomps and Bomb-Ombs... gaerahrthrtjfgf.
But a compilation of all of them might not be very good. They're not very varied; they mostly involve lots of loops and speed ramps. If you played one on one game, you've played them all. |

While a Rainbow Cup wouln't have been too good an idea, I really think they should've had one of the classic Rainbow Roads (not the 64 one, ew ew ew) as the last track of the Retro Cups. Ending it with Yoshi's Circuit, whose bright idea was that?

I can't see what you guys have against the 64 Rainbow Road. It's my favorite course in MK64 (aside from Wario Stadium) BECAUSE it's longer than all of the others. To me, that's a good thing. I didn't like how short the other courses were in it. The game needed to end with a good marathon.

Yes, but the MK64 Rainbow Road was just so empty, and that made it annoying.
I'd say yes to the Rainbow Cup, if they added some obstacles or things to make the 64 RR look less empty. (edited by Cirvante on 06-05-06 10:21 PM) |

...So they should just put every track in when the eventual Mario Kart Wii is released, right?
I have fond memories of getting screwed over on Rainbow Road in SMK. Fun times. |

Originally posted by Cirvante I find it slightly annoying that it broke from the pattern. Rainbow Road is supposed to be, you know, HARD. Mean obstacles/turns, a lack of walls on large parts, etc. The 64 one was... none of the above. It was pretty, though. I also take slight issue when people based their opinion of the set of levels purely on that one. "Double Dash's Rainbow Road has very few walls? They messed up." Argh. As for the cup idea... could be fun. |

Originally posted by Tatrion I liked it too. But it was to easy to get a huge lead on that one. Iīve only played the MK64, MKDD and MKDS ones. I didnīt really like the DD one. Bananas = death, Mushroom = death and Star = death. The MKDS one is my favorite. |

Man, I still remember the "Jump over the wall" trick in the MK64 one... Took off about a quarter of the course, and put you in the lead instantly. Quite possibly the best shortcut ever.

Wasn't the one in Wario Stadium, where you jump over a wall at the beginning of the course, a better one?
There's one in Mario Raceway as well, but that one is an ass to pull off. |

Actually, in Wario Stadium, if you managed to hit both parts of the shortcut, you could get somewhere in the vicinity of 6-second lap times. Needless to say, that tops ALL of the others. |
