PS3 just looked better overall, i dunno how the wii is gonna grab others, looks fun, but what bout people with no room? PS3 also has blueray which grabs me too. I have a feeling the wii will fail like the gamecube, as in don't sell that well

The Wii is definitely not going to fail, and has a very good chance of beating out the PS3. Its much cheaper, it actually has games that are already making people wanna buy it, and the online features are infinitely better than that of the PS3 or the 360. Almost everyone I know has said "I will get a PS3 in a few years once the price has gone way down and actually has games I want to play."

Why do people keep insisting the Gamecube failed? It may have been last place for sales, but it's not like it flopped or something. Nintendo still made good money off the system, and it still had a LOT of good games...

Nintendo made money off the system, therefore it did NOT fail. I think the term would be "not as successful as they hoped it would be".
To be honest, I think Nintendo will at the very least close the gap during this generation. They'll probably still be #3 but if you can increase your market share and profit at the same time, it's all good. |

The Gamecube may not have flopped but it certainly had poor third party support. 99% of the time I see an ad for a game I want it's available only on PS2, Xbox and sometimes PC.
Originally posted by Chronosphere-x Heh, Blu-ray is one of the many reasons I don't intend to get a PS3. I'll have none of that DRM-riddled crap in my house. |

I will now name myself the official Acmlm's Board Microsoft Hate Machine.
Microsoft should have stopped at Mechwarrior III while they were still ahead. Anyone see the figures for the 360 in Japan? Do you know how many games we carry at TRU for the 360? 18. That's including the special editions to Godfather, NFS:MW, Perfect Dark, and Oblivion. Almost none of those games have any Japanese origin at all, which explains why they're mostly FPS, racing, and war games. If you wanna talk about a console that has no third-party support, it's the 360. The only big hitter that Microsoft really has backing them is EA, and all of its little fun fun companies that it will eventually use to buy out Capcom and Sega. Oddly enough, though, Activision seems very happy about developing things for them, as does Rockstar. Except, you know, all of these companies are still considerably non-japanese in origin. To the four people in Japan that own an Xbox 360 and like it, I salute you. Hey, you know, it's ok that you've only got about five games to play. That's probably all you can afford as it is, what with the average price of the games being ten dollars higher than the world standard due to Microsoft hoping they'd make up the rape that overtook them on console sales via games. On the other hand, to the 10000 who regret buying theirs, I shake your hand and feel your pain. |

I disliked Gamecube because of the lack of games as well.
Well, games that interest me. My friend got a Gamecube, and I sort of tested it out before possibly getting one myself. Eh, I wasn't really impressed. I'd prefer PS2 because of the incredible selection of games. I'm really hoping the Wii doesn't end up that way as well. |

I would like to buy and stay loyal by buying a Wii at launch. And I probably will. But as soon as the sensor things start getting sluggish/unresponsive, and when my arms and wrists get tired and sore, and when the whole novelty just wears off..I'm getting a PS3.
As mainstream and 'simple' as Nintendo is trying to make gaming..its actually making more complicated technology with more moving parts and more parts that can get dropped and stop working. Remember, people are very very stupid. (unfortunately) There not gonna know how to get this contraption to work and will gravitate towards what they know already..a Dual-Shock and 'Grand Theft Auto 6 : Slap my Bitch up!' Nintendo will become more niche than ever. Which is actually fine by me. You just cant make any sort of argument for Nintendo in the Console Wars. Sony will dominate even more so in this generation. |

Originally posted by AlexAR You DO know that at least a decent number of games will work with regular controllers, right? Brawl definitely will, at least. Does anyone know exactly how the remote works? It may not actually have so many moving parts... If anything, I'd be more concerned about the wire ripping out from the nunchaku (analog stick) component. |

Most of the arguments against the controllers are from people who dont know enough about it to really say anything. You dont have to jump all over the place, so you dont need a huge are to play it in. You can play it sitting down if you want. Bill Gates said it wont work because "Americans dont know how to stand still yet" which more or less doesnt matter. If you shiver because its cold, that doesnt mean you will fall down and die in the game.

That was one well put together control... On the other hand. My old Gameboy pocket. A portable device!..supposedly designed to take some sort of physical abuse..as in putting into pockets..and then maybe I don't know..walking..while in your pocket still. I swear, I just put in in my pocket walked from school to home..boom no longer worked. After only like 8 months of purchase. Sucks too..i had like 3 more pokemon left to catch to complete my Pokedex. |

You're just unlucky.
I've thrown my old gameboy around ("the brick") and still works. Anyway, I shouldn't go away from the main topic. |

I was playing something on my gamecube one day. Keep in mind the gamecube is sitting on top of a 27 inch TV, which is sitting on top of a 3 foot high shelf. My niece came running in yelling at me. I put the controller down to hug her. She proceeds to grab the controller and pull. The gamecube comes crashing down. It landed upside down, the door opened, and the disc fell out. I picked it up, put the disc back in, and closed it. I just kept playing, it didnt screw up anything at all.

Nintendo Abuse But still working.
-Washed 5 gameboy gamepacks in the washer by mistake. No save files gone -Droped N64 and Snes about 21 times. -Steped on Gamecube CD No scratches (In boots) -Power Sudrge And lived. -Gameboy(gbc gb pocket sp) droped about 1000 times each. Yeah Nintendo products can take the abuse. I hope the rumor is not true about you only being able to play a game on 1 ps3 only. (Ie: Buy game Use in your ps3 Will not work in any other ps3.) If it is true Sony as a game console is ... |
