The Super Mario World ROM that I am using has some sprites and objects that don't look right, for example, the Mud/lava looks like a mess of random triangles, most other objects and sprites work, just the ones that I want to use for a level don't. do I need to get a new ROM somewhere, or is there a simple fix that I could have overlooked?

I think you effed up the map16 data for this. If not then I think you messed with YY_CHR too much. If that doesn't help then i guess you should wait for someone else or just move your ExGFX and levels to a new ROM.

I did download YY_CHR, but I never opened SMW in it, I got it for a different game i'm modding. If I did possibly F-UP the "map16 data" wouldn't getting a new ROM solve it?

The Problem: Some objects and sprites look like they're messed up.

The Solution: Make sure you have the right graphics loaded, as that will cause problems if the wrong ones are loaded. To change graphics settings, on your toolbar, click the button with the Poison Mushroom on it. A dialog box will appear. Experiment with the options in the two drop-down listboxes.

You know, he may have just opened the rom, decided he wants mud/lava, and then it looked wrong. He may be trying to put it in a level that has no support for that object because the graphics setting arent correct.

Click level, click the thing nere the bottom that says about level graphics. He then can choose the graphics for his levels, two seperate dropdowns, one for objects and one for sprites.

This happened to me a few times, until I read the LM helpfile.

Sorry. I was tired and a bit drunk when I wrote that, and so didn't read any of the posts correctly. Next time I will put a paper in front of my pc saying 'DO NOT USE WHEN DRUNK'
