As a fan of football, I couldn't resist the temptation of posting this thread... | |||

Um... The UK isn't in the tournament. ENGLAND is but in soccer, the UK compete as different entities.
And I really don't know my pick at the moment. It's a really wide-open field... |

Originally posted by Bo_Do Yes, but it still says UK. I'd edit, but it's kind of unpossible. Since you forgot the Ivory Coast, if you want to re-do the poll with proper nation names, I can close this and you can start a new one. |

Originally posted by Luigi-San 8-12 years away from realistically challenging for the World Cup. What I'm wondering is what happened to the likes of Germany, Italy, and Argentina, and why England suddenly became the UK. I mean, seriously, everybody knows Germany is gonna take this. They are a team for the big occasions, and even though they may play crap during the build-up to a World Cup, they'll always make sure to be fantastic when the actual World Cup starts. Besides, they are at home. Germany will beat England in the final, and I will be extremely happy. Oh, and South Korea should crash and burn in the most embarrassing manner. That would be great. |

Germany taking it? I'd love it. I've got my Germany jersey sitting right in front of me...ready for going down to the German culture centre on Friday to drink Becks and rock the footy. However, realistically, it is Brazil. They've got the same team as last year. A team of super players. I mean sure, German finally scrapped Kahn in favour of the better Lehhman and has a pretty good set of players that are going to strike out and bring some hurt. Too bad Brazil has genetically engineered their players to be overly offensive and unstoppable.
Mind you, I'd <3 to see my heritage nation devestate this world cup. Ukraine deserves it all. Hell, I've also got a Ukraine jersey that I'm going to be wearing on June 14th when we show the Spainish who is who. I mean I'm confident after we stomped Costa Rica and drew Italy. Them ain't easy tasks. I mean, even the qualifier was decent. Denmark and Greece? Thems again ain't easy digs. Ukraine has a really strong team. I am confident we'll make it past the first round. Depending on who we play we might even make it further! Maybe we'll pull a Croatia 98 or something! Oh well. It all starts on Friday which means I will not be sober for the better part of a month. |

Originally posted by SalmonI was going to say the same thing. I think the U.S. is currently overrated in the FIFA world rankings. They don't deserve to be top 5 right now, maybe top-15 given the talent on the team. They were a joke in 1998 and were a cinderella in 2002. Much of the world still doesn't give an ounce of respect to the American soccer program. However, I think if the U.S. can make it out of their group, I consider the 2006 World Cup a success for the Americans and they will get more respect from the world.Originally posted by Luigi-San Anyways, I'm going to go with the team 2nd likely to win (not sure which team that is XD) |

Originally posted by Salmon The poster didn't think they exist. Kinda like Carl Everett and dinosaurs. (We can speak ill of him because he's banned. ) Originally posted by Salmon Really? The team I've heard bandied about is Brazil. Don't have any strong opinions towards any team, so it'll be fun to see how this edition shakes out. |

What I'm going to do is close this thread because...
- It's made by a banned user. - It has a crappy poll in it. - We need a clean thread for this. Look for the sticky. |
