So what do you think? Yes, I am aware of that the background picture is large and also that the transparency doesn't work in IE. Get over it.

I'm sure 56kers appreciate that.
It's a terrible background picture anyway.

We don't have blocklayout.php, so um, I'm gonna say no. Be considerate.

Especially when it doesn't even work in IE. Improve it.

It's not my fault that IE doesn't support PNG transparency.

But oh well... I can see where this is going.

Actually, it's difficult to get the transparency working in every browser; I've only found two methods, one's IE-only and the other's lololol-only. Worse yet, I can't figure out how to use them both together without things fucking up. So I really can't blame him for that tiny detail.

Edit: Oh, PNG transparency, right, yes... that is another option I didn't think of.

Just make them GIFs. That's how KATW fixed his layout when I was having problems with the transparent PNGs.

We don't like layouts that are unreadable in certain browsers. Get over it.

Layout dies. There's no reason to have an image that's artificially blown up to 1000% and wasting my bandwidth.

And for those who are wondering: my official stance on web design is not standards-compliance. It's the "this works fine in any browser" stance. I want shit to work everywhere, not just for 5% of people.

@cheveyo: This should work in both mozilla, ff, ie and opera:

filter: alpha(opacity=70);
filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(opacity=70);
-moz-opacity: 0.70;
opacity: 0.7;

The problem is that it affects the text too.

@danielle: Well GIFs are not capable of semitransparency.

@xk: The image is supposed to look like it was from some old DOS application or something. Which is why the colors are limited to 128 and it's pixelated.

Oh and extremely bad is an exaggeration.

But anyway. I had an idea, and it didn't work out. Back to the old one then.

Edit: You didn't have to wipe my bio too...

Yes, exactly as often as I think. Here it would look even worse because of the background.

(edit: not that that looks bad)
