The problem with my game was that I pasted over the tileset specfic objects permanently (to make new land). Only pages 0-f cvan be used to insert objects directly into the game. SO where can I put new map 16 objects (to make land or other objects) without messing up the ones that are ALREADY THERE (tILESET SPECIFIC, ANIMATION, ETC.)?

If you just start with page 4, you can't be wrong.

So... page 4 and up can be used for new 16x16 tiles? Even though every one of them say: "A grey cement block that mario can't walk through"?

Of course, click on the block you want to edit, then press the button "Edit 16x16 Attributes". There you can change the graphics, palettes etc. for this block, and on the bottom right you can set like which tile in the MAP16 editor the block should act. (For example, 130 is a grey cement block, you can't go through. If you put 2, it acts like water etc.)

Thanks for clearing that problem up. That was the only problem I've had with ExGFX/map16 (16x16 tiles)/8x8 tiles. Everything else has been cleared up for me, and I understand it. Now, on to more SMW hacking!!!!! |
