Grey: "Oi, Kirb, don't be an ass!"

As Vivian disappeared, Grey rushed in front of Kirb again and sullenly drew his hand back, an empty look on his face. With a foul scowl, Grey backhanded Kirby across the jaw before taking a step back and glaring intently at him. If this was what it had to come to... Grey was sick of just sitting and watching. As a Fan, he knew injustice when he saw it.

"Come on now, we've beaten on them enough, and they've done nothing to hurt us! We're hunting them like wild rabbits, and you're here standing off about how amazing you are and just kicking the poor guy when he's clearly down and out!"

Grey gestured to the catman, who looked fairly healthy, if by "healthy" one were to mean "cursed, weakened, and psychologically shattered at the moment". Grey could feel the fatigue and anger radiating from the cat creature, and it was all directed at the super-powered team of adventurers.

"Come on, now, if we fight him here we'll just trounce him like we always do, and there won't be any reason for us to bring him down other than out of spite! The least we can do is either ask him nicely to tell us what we need to know, or at least try to help him so that he'd be willing to cooperate with us! Now, I know that I shouldn't be talking like this, especially considering what I did to this guy earlier, but that was when he had the entire town under some kind of curse! Considering he seems fairly harmless right now in comparison, and we don't actually have any beef with him, why can't we just leave him alone, or at least just try a diplomatic solution before getting our beatdown on?"

Grey could only hope that his monologue didn't end too late for the fighting to start...

Grey straightened. His grimace remained, but his fury subsided slightly...

Grey: "Fine. Go ahead. Do what you want..."

He turned towards Team Rocket, but cast a glance behind him at Kirby before speaking again.

"...But don't touch Oni. I'll handle him."

Grey's fingers extended, and closed around his baseball bat as it appeared in his hand...

Grey: "Heh..."

The bat flashed to Grey's shoulder and rested against it. Grey grinned his usual winning smile.

"Guess that little bit of work's done. Good job, Troy. I'm just glad nobody was foolish enough to actually try to hurt Kirb."

He turned towards Team Rocket, pointing his bat at the two black-clad failures...

"And incidentally guys, his name is Kirby Neo Nite, not Kirbynite. I'm just glad I picked up on that before it was too late. I'd hate to think of what we might have done to him otherwise. Now, I'm not quite sure who you people are, but if you think you're gonna go around impersonating my friends, I've got a bone to pick with you. So I'd suggest you prepare for trouble, yourselves!"

Grey: "That's some good logic, Troy. Remind me to buy you a pizza later on."

Grey grimaced at the creatures that had beset the group.

"Argh... I hate Pokemon battles..."

He dashed madly at the two Pokemon, his bat trailing behind him, but barely gave them a second glance before he passed between them and headed for Oni...

"Kirb, give me a boost!"

Without any kind of warning whatsoever, Grey leapt straight at Oni, hoping he'd take the cue. He didn't bother thinking about it, his focus had to be turned elsewhere for this to work...

Grey: "Consider this my apology!"

Grey rose high into the air, above the steeple where Team Rocket had stationed themselves. He focused his thoughts squarely upon the agents, the steeple, the air around him, and his own fingers, which began to tingle with psychic force.

At the apex of his jump, with his silhouette eclipsing the sun, Grey began to fall. The wind whipped around him as he crossed his arms and his eyes glowed a dull green sheen.

There was a very important lesson that every World of Warcraft player had to learn in PVP. It was that when dealing with pet classes such as Hunters or Warlocks, it was a terrible idea to waste your time with the enemy player's pet, when you could just as easily defeat the player, who would usually be substantially more powerful than its summoned comrade. The pet disappeared after that.

Pokemon don't disappear, but that certainly didn't stop Grey from attacking the hunters.

"PK Fire Beta!!!"

He pointed his fingers at the steeple, and a shotgun blast of crimson flame erupted from their tips at Team Rocket, propelling Grey backwards with recoil. The blast of flames spread wide around the top of the steeple, blackening its shingles with soot.

His assault was stopped cold, though, by the boxing glove that fired straight through the blanket of fire and hit Grey square in the chest, sending him flying in an upward arc that ended with him landing hard on his back on the ground below. His head slammed onto the dirt, kicking up a cloud of dust as he skidded backwards a few feet and came to a stop some ten feet away from Oni.

He didn't get up.

Power Throws test ftw. I also do fancy Boxing quite a bit, but I didn't vote for it because unless you try really hard to figure it out there is no rhyme or reason to the control scheme.... At least with bowling, there's a "trick" to it.

Mickey Mania enrages me so... The entire game was just a setup for an advertisement for "Runaway Brain". There is no ending, man. The game has no ending, just an advertisement telling you to go see Mickey's newest cartoon.

Now, as far as good, old games go, I've gotta go with Kirby's Star Stacker for Game Boy, or maybe Spike McFang for SNES. Now that's a nifty little adventure game. It's a bit along the lines of Pocky and Rocky, but not so much a shooter as those two games are... Just a top down dungeon crawler with a kid vampire who can hurl his hat around like a frisbee.

Posted on 12-30-06 06:25 PM, in So I realised I'm passive aggresive with my girlfriend Link
Dr Ice, I'm gonna have to ask you to make some more content-filled posts in the future, especially in this forum. However, for the sake of explanation, it seems that he is having trouble figuring out how to make himself change so that his (possibly former?) girlfriend will like him again.

Passive-aggressive behavior is seen in situations where one half of a relation is not satisfied with the terms set by the other half, and yet does not outwardly protest them, instead allowing their aggression to seep out through vicarious or more indirect means. It is seen in every kind of relationship, from business to romantic. What Netscape is suggesting is that he is like this with his girlfriend, and he would like to change because he cares about her so much.

The simple solution here, Netscape, is given just by the name of the condition: Passive-aggressive. You aren't being direct enough with her, but at the same time, I can sense where you come from with the want to not be so direct. It'll seem controlling, and you're right, in some cases it is. The key here is MODERATION. The balance in power in a relationship (because of course a relationship is founded on communication and equality) must be maintained, never shifted in one direction or another. Some girls like a guy they can boss around, but nobody likes a pushover.

To give you a reasonably simple example of acceptable behavior in a relationship, I'll present you with a fairly simple situation:

You and your girlfriend cannot seem to decide where to go to dinner tonight. Your girlfriend has presented a solution, and you do not necessarily enjoy that particular eating establishment. For the sake of argument, we'll say she wants Chinese food. There are several paths you can take here:

1: The aggressive/authoritarian path: You tell her firmly that you refuse to go to eat Chinese food tonight, and that there is no way she is going to force you to. Unfortunately, you also don't have an alternative solution to the food, and it is more than likely that this behavior will lose you a dinner date, as you would be acting childish. Beggars can't be choosers.

2: The passive/aggressive path (version 1 -- Guilt): You decide to accept, however unwilling you are, and go eat chinese food. While there, you are overly extravagant with your spending and behavior, paying her half of the tab, ordering for her, and being overall unlike your (assumed) usual self while doing so. The undisclosed goal here would be to make your girlfriend feel inwardly guilty about forcing you to spend so much on her. Most relationships can get away with one or two instances of this, seeing it as just a time when you're feeling overly generous and kind, however repeated behavior will often hint at an attempt to shift the balance in power precariously towards the providing side of the relationship. It's not the worst thing to happen, but it's definitely not the best.

3: The passive/aggressive path (version 2 -- Coldness): You accept, again, but during dinner you are cold and emotionless, laconic, and engage in little talk with your significant other. You make her pay her half of the tab, and you barely say anything to her as you bring her home, making the barest formalities on the path to saying goodnight. This is much worse than version one of the behavior, as it cannot be in any way construed with sweetness or kind behavior. Your intentions are clear, and you are most definitely in the wrong. This sort of thing will not last long in a relationship, and it's suggested that you follow our next path as soon as possible.

4: The authoritative/understanding path: This is easily the solution to your problems. The trick to maintaining a balance of power in a relationship is to weigh one's options and communicate: Yes, you dislike Chinese food, but consider the following: Do you have anything better to suggest? Does your dislike for Chinese outweigh her liking for it? If you can't answer yes to either of these questions, suck it up and go. Make a good time of it, because it's clearly not the end of the world, or you'd have some much bigger complaints. If you can answer yes to either of these, consider this as well: Does your alternate solution appeal to her? If you don't know, find out. If it doesn't, then consider asking her nicely, or possibly trying to mediate a better solution to the dillemma, such as, say, cooking at home or going elsewhere. If you really don't like Chinese food that much (I can't really sympathize with that, Chinese food rules), then let her know about it, and see if she can't come up with something else. Who knows, if she's equally empathic to your disinterest in the situation and you end up going anyway, she may try that much harder to make sure you enjoy yourself. That's when you know you have a good thing going.

There are other paths you can take when dealing with situations like this, but many of them are very detrimental to your relationship's progress. Only a few of them are even close to helping, and #4 up there is easily the best way to go.

And remember, Dr. Ice, try to add some more content next time! Until then!

The light of the next day's sun shined upon a lowly little flat in the middle of suburbia, home to an aging gardener that moonlighted as a janitor in broad daylight.

Sigmund had a bad hip and several ounces of pain with some of his quicker movements, a sign that he was getting on in his years. He didn't feel it was very fair, considering he ate healthy, was physically active both in and out of his home, and had never drank or smoked a day in his life. In spite of it all, and at a comparatively young age when placed alongside his friends, Sigmund was physically ailing, weak as a kitten in lieu of what few friends he did have.

He wore glasses to deal with his myopia, and he lifted weights to protect his muscles from atrophy. In spite of this, his perscription strengthened by the year, and his muscles found themselves able to do less and less reps as time went on. Suddenly, ten pushups felt like a hundred, a hundred like a thousand, and road signs as he drove along the highway took more and more time to get into focus.

Today, however, was not a day of ailment. As his piercing alarm clock sounded the 7:00 hour, Sigmund opened his eyes and stared straight up at the ceiling, not expecting to see the very swirl of its white plaster clear as glass through his pupils. He furrowed his brow, almost attempting to delude himself into thinking that no, it was most definitely out of focus. It was out of focus every other day, he thought as he reached to his nightstand for his spectacles. Putting them on, he found that there was no change in his vision, almost as if his own eyes had adjusted to the glasses almost instantly.

He did, however, fail to realize that there was none of the usual early morning aches and pains in his arms as he did his morning exercises. A few pushups (to get the blood pumping) later, and Sigmund was fully awake, though he did not feel quite as fatigued as he normally did when he first got out of bed. In fact, he didn't even feel like mixing himself a pot of coffee that morning either, and when he went to pluck the morning paper from his front lawn, bending over produced no pain in his back. That was when he caught on. No pain, his eyes didn't hurt, he could most certainly move his limbs freely...

...That new chiropractor must have finally done something right, Sigmund thought as he entered his modestly-decorated kitchen, a fresh newspaper in his arms and a bowl of oatmeal boiling on the stove.

Grey: "....Heh."

His eyes glowed a dull green for a moment, and he focused his thoughts. Hiryuu was in for a generic pun about lightning, that was for sure.

Grey grinned as the glow expanded to the hand that gripped what was formerly a baseball bat, and sparks flew from the edges of his gloves. He wrenched the bar harder into Hiryuu's hand, and shaped his psychic focus into a jolt of electricity that went straight through the bar, and hopefully into his foe.

"Zap."

After the jolt was delivered, the weapon disappeared into nothing and Grey himself backpedaled quickly away, keeping enough distance so he could at least try to see what Hiryuu would counter with...

Agent F: "I'm glad there's finally an iota of cooperation among this assembly. Let's continue."

He nodded to Agent G, who pressed the play button on his remote, resuming the video.

As Kirby returned to where he was previously standing, he motioned to a middle-height young man in a heavy, dark green vest lined with pouches and pockets, whose glasses shined softly in the exposure light of the video. The boy got up from his corner in the cell, adjusted his glasses, and stared at the camera, shifting his glance ever sideways, as though he were casting it across dimensions. It settled on the place where the Grey that inhabited this room was sitting. The young man spoke.

Grey: "I'm Grey. I'm not from the world that this was filmed in... So that means that whatever happens here won't have any bearing on whether or not I came. That means that if anyone sees this, it'll be me.

Grey. There are a few things that I have to tell you... Depending on how dangerous this new world is going to be, and how much of history may have been altered, what you've studied in your time being here and what I've studied may differ greatly. I just have one thing to mention to you above all else:

Whatever you do, especially considering the world you're in, do not ever, no matter how hard you feel the temptation, no matter what excuse you can come up with to satisfy whatever sick, twisted kind of curiousity or boredom you may attain while being here, do not, repeat, NOT forge The Enlightenment. It'll only lead to more problems, problems that this world doesn't need to have on it. I don't know if Troy will be there or not when this video arrives, and I don't even know how he got to be on that world in the first place. But you might, and just that knowledge alone should keep you from any kind of serious temptation. If you do it, though... Well, your journey's gonna get a whole lot harder, especially for him."

He looked to the side of the camera.

"I'm done. Ganbatte, guys. Anyone else got something to say?"

He stood up and paced to the background, resuming his previous state of being huddled in the corner of the cell, watching and waiting.

The Grey in the room with the rest of the viewers just nodded, and grimaced slightly...
