I'd like to say honestly that I welcome any new addition to the sim-battle crowd.

But given recent quality, I cannot.

Therefore, welcome aboard, and please don't be as mediocre as you claim.

Okay. Superconductors charging energy, that's almost reasonable. But Critical Mass? I'm afraid you've lost me. Could I bother you to explain what critical mass has to do with a vaporization ray? Furthermore, how would 1000 Gs vaporize something? Gs in what direction? What would actually cause the ray to form, and how would it transmit these Gs to the target?

You know, I'm amazed by the general lack of skepticism here. And seeing as there's quite a bit of skepticism, by that I mean that there isn't enough. So I tossed in my forty cents. Go buy a soda.

The background is very repetetive. It loses its novelty quickly, and so I hope it doesn't go on for the whole song, given that I was homicidal by the end of that 55 second clip. It really is just an introduction, so I don't think I can judge the song by that. At all.

But hey, keep it up. Prove wrong my expectations of... well, mediocrity.

(ooc: Is it just me, or is this going to ROCK like Midgar? You pwn, Grey.)

Several rooftops away, a blue disc of energy appears. It spins faster and faster, then opens into a portal, through which a small purple cat drops, landing lightly on her feet. The portal closes behind her, to her surprise. Ketra, in a nervous mood, considers the options before her, and in so doing projects these thoughts unintentionally to just about everyone nearby...

"Koneko said it'd be a few days before he could open the next one... I wish Natsume had made it, though... Ooh! What's going on over there? Sounds like a game!~ I'm in, I'm in!"

She quickly leaps to a neighboring rooftop, then somehow levitates up to another, before finally jumping to where Grey is. At this distance, it's easy to get a good look... She has quite large purple and black ears, cute, happy eyes, and what seems to be an oval of silver stuck to her forehead. She wears a black bracelet arond each foreleg which seems to move in slow-motion, following after her instead of remaining attached as she moves. Ketra jumps up and down with excitement for a moment, then thinks to Grey...

"So... When do we start?"

Ketra, searching for the mind of the new arrival to greet her, is especially surprised when Nijote vanishes, apparently from existence itself.

"Who was that? Oh, sorry, I'm Ketra, nice to meet you all!... Who are you all, anyway?"

She settles down a bit, now that it's obvious the game won't begin for a while. Waiting is fine with her, she thinks. Or maybe it isn't, but that doesn't matter.

Really? I saw his post as a thinly-veiled attack on the possibility of a draft, should World War Three break out.

I think I understand what you're trying to say, Crashman. May I add that the real issue many people have with the 18-21 year old kids in the army is that there's a higher risk of them dying, and more broadly, that a large portion of a generation of young people will be wiped out.

My personal opinion on the wider subject here is as follows. It's everyone's choice what they want to do with their life, and if they want to murder others in the name of their country, so be it. After all, the ones they murder are soldiers, so they don't count, right? There's no way the people you kill as a soldier are anyone's children, parents, or close friends, because they're soldiers, so it's okay to kill them.

And if you couldn't detect that thinly veiled macabre and cynical sarcasm, I feel sorry for your family.

Whee, Alastor is a winner. Strikethrough tags win. Roaer/. Damn.

I'm not drunk, either.

I'm pretty sure something was being talked about in this thread besides how people can't type... Something about eggnog sucking and people only liking hot chocolate. I agree fully.

This is really weird, to not use the backspace key. It's an integral part of my reality, I cannot live without it, etcetera, ectetera. Damn.

So, we need a new topic...

How about talking about how sexy Kyouji is? So much more so than Alastor. And II you could talk about my obscure gender identitty. identitty, frofles. frofles, roffles. Mwahahahaha!

It's fun to make a fool of yourself every once in a while, no?

...no. Are you the only one here who thinks that any country could afford this worthwhile investment? If it cannot, where does the money come from? And if a meltdown occurs, would such a country be able to handle the cleanup? Where does the money for that come from? Do you suggest loaning it to them on the off-chance they might be able to pay it back, those billions of dollars?

And the places that need to be given electric power are the ones where hospitals need to be able to store vaccines, where people need fresh water. A couple of fridges for the clinic, and a well. That's the sort of thing we should supply. These things are easily done with solar panels, and few of them at that.

Unless of course televisions are more important than medicines and fresh water. Then we need nuclear power given to the rest of the world. Nuclear power would be effective if massive power grids were constructed to distribute this electricity, but then the cost rises higher and you realize it's more efficient and cost-effective to replace the power lines and nuclear plant with small, localized solar plants.

So that's my viewpoint.

"Wow, you all look so strong! Let's start soon, I can't wait any longer!"

Ketra idly watches the clouds go by... As she imagines what each one looks like, it shapes itself to match her mental image. Soon there are trees and lakes and rocks and raspberries, all floating across the blue sky in full-color glory. Images of each of the players of the current game appear as well, and begin to chase each other across the dreamlike cloudscape.

"Huh? My powers?"

...But no one hears her. She watches as the angel falls from the sky and the strange ninja-looking girl reappears.

"... oh."

Fortunately for her, she's still got options... And it really is more fun when everyone's the same. Looking down, her black dragon rings are gone... But she was expecting that. What she wasn't expecting was her entire storage dimension to empty itself in front of her... Several tens of thousands of silver coins, dozens of small daggers, hundreds of moonstones, a few carefully carved marble statuettes no more than three inchs tall, and a stack of really old books all appear in midair off the side of the building, forming an unintentional projectile barrage ready to fall down and hit Grey with the power of gravity.

Ketra leaps off after them, unable to control herself after what she considers blatant theft. So what if she's a theif, she rightfully stole all that silver and he can't take it! ...But without psychic control of her fall, she keeps going, and plunges through the window of an office building opposite.

She finds herself in a dark storage room, and getting back in focus, she realizes that it's a great place to hide. Walking around carefully, she finds an open cardboard box, and jumps inside. She doesn't think anyone will be able to find her here...

Ketra peeks her head out the window long enough to watch Dragon Master abscond with her earnings. Now, an ordinary person might be slightly annoyed by this... but Ketra, beyond being a kleptomaniac, also happens to be very young. In a fury, she leaps out of the window, jumping off of the side of the opposite building, back and forth, making her way down to the ground, and conveniently blowing off a lot of steam at the same time. On the street, she rushes over to her fallen belongings just as Grey trips, and during the brief flicker of power she manages to send the entirety of the silver heap... somewhere. She isn't quite sure herself, but it'll be a safe place... it always is. Turning around, she realizes that there's a new 'it'. Then she spots Dragon Master walking into the same building she just jumped out of. She rushes after him, and is met by an insurmountable obstacle:

A door.

A frusterated Ketra looks up, and sees an open window. She begins to climb the wall, brick by brick. Losing her levitation won't stop her from going after what she's lost...

She's completely lost focus on the game of tag.

Sadly, Ketra has no means of communication at the moment... Without her psychic powers, she can't understand any language but her own, which happens to be very different than the one Dragon Master is speaking in. As such, she has no way to know what he proposes. Seeing her target, she makes a single leap of quite amazing distance, for those unfamiliar with the strength of small cats- Enough to take her five feet straight up, and grab the window, scampering inside.

She then looks around for wherever this creepy guy might be... Or rather, listens. Coins make distinctive clinks when their bearers move, so she knows to be ready to pounce when he comes into sight.

Well, besides giving each blood cell a one or zero designation, you'd also have to give it a sort of identifier that would tell a computer where it goes in the sequence, as it's incredibly impractical to keep all of them physically in order.

But also, damn you. I was writing a short story with this as the main premise. *shrug*
