Intel P3 1.0 Ghz or AMD Athlon or better
128 MB DirectX 9.0c-compliant AGP or PCI-E graphics card (256+ for HGD)
DirectX 9.0c-compliant sound card
12x or faster CD-ROM
1.2 GB HDD space

Looks like the system requirements might be your big issue here. Your graphics card seems to just skirt the border for what is minimally necessary to run the game, so it may very well be a graphics issue. Try turning the settings to their absolute minimum and turn off any high-def settings like HDR or anti-aliasing. You seem to be perfectly fine in the way of all of the other settings...

I fence! It's not much in the way of actual sporting, but there's a lot of physical activity involved in the practices. For one, holding a stance and a lunge requires a good bit of stamina when you're doing drills. A drill sequence for people on the team typically involves a few things:

We start by stretching every muscle in our legs and torso, and a few of the ones in our arms, as well. After that, we practice advances and retreats, which works the upper leg muscles and knees, as well as the torso in part (as you have to keep your torso straight in preparation for a lunge). Occasionally we do lunge drills, which help work the lower leg muscles and calves, as well as honing one's balance. After that is usually a series of situps, pushups, and leglifts (the fun kind where you lift both legs off the ground with your back perfectly flat). By the end of practice, I'm more worried about how sore I'm going to be the next day than about how precise my attacks and parries are...

I agree with Cruel Justice here; it's a terrible idea to drink any kind of soda at all while exercising. Anything carbonated in general makes you feel like you're eating mentos with your drink of choice while you're running and bouncing around like we do.

However, as an extension I must note that anything with a lot of processed sugar in it (energy drinks, even gatorade) is nowhere near as good for you as water, and is actually fairly unhealthy when consumed in the volumes that an athlete would require to replenish a fluid supply.

The trouble with a high-protein style of exercise and diet is that it builds muscle mass-- for sports like fencing where you need to be fast and lithe, a lot of bulky muscle mass serves only to make you heavier than you already are. Granted, you gain the ability to overpower your opponents, but it's also at a cost: A more precise player could destroy you easily via technical strikes.

PIRATES! Oh, god, pirates... What the hell.

So I don't like how the way the Item World is balanced causes enemies that are ten levels below you to have gear that is capable of bringing you down easily... Yeah, they're still cannon fodder for Adell's fists of fury, but when I've got six enemies on him at once with all of them using weapons that far outclass even his upgraded arms, it gets a BIT cumbersome.

Also, does having a treasure map equipped trigger pirate attacks? Because I've got one equipped solely for a massive defense boost that it gives, and I'm seriously considering getting rid of it just because I'm tired of a pirate four times my level coming over and picking on me, ruining my fun and my lovely, lovely geo chaining.

I'd throw this over to the OC, but there's a degree of relevance to my own life in it, so I'll forego my objection for the time being.

I live in a dorm. My tuition is paid for by the school I go to, but because boarding costs fluctuate, I usually end up applying for government loans.

My food is, for the most part, provided for me in the form of a meal plan that involves me scanning my university ID at a dining hall and partaking of food that demolishes my digestive tract and does just enough to keep me alive while at the same time *probably* sending me closer and closer to that dreaded final heart attack.

Whenever there are costs that outweigh what I've been "given", I augment my funds with the money I appropriate through my job at Toys R Us. Given that I typically only work about 15 hours per week during the school year, it's obvious that at my wages that just ain't much. I usually have to save most of my money for insurance for my car and payments on whatever my loans won't cover. Sometimes this leaves me with enough money to buy myself, say, a Pizza Pocket here and there. Other times I find myself scraping for coins to use the vending machines at work. It's a pretty good life, for the most part.

EDIT: "For the most part" is often dictated by what I have to pay for at the time. For example, I ended up selling my new DS Lite back to the store I bought it from in order to gain some of my birthday money back so I could afford an oil change and a parking pass for my car. Roughly 250 dollars, mind you. Fortunately, I've managed to get my DS back, so I guess life returns to normal at this point. I'm not above selling or returning things I've just bought in order to pay for bills, though.

Clomp... Clomp... Clompclomp...

There was the sound of pegged legs hitting the pavement of the street David was on. No sooner had he touched his Stylus Screen than did a pair of red glowing eyes beset themselves upon him.

???: "This whole monologuing thing is starting to tick me off, dood. And if there's anything I hate, it's that mockery of true literature that the world calls fanfiction."

The pegged legs continued to clomp forward, now walking around David as he readied his chip data. They belonged to a short, fat being no more than a meter high, his ducky bill practically sewn to his face in a manner akin to a plush animal... Or a zombie.

It was Axel, Scion of Literature and possibly the True Bringer of the Dawn... Which is certainly what he would have been, if being reincarnated as a good-for-nothing Prinny hadn't caused him to forget everything about himself save for his name. Or if all of that junk hadn't been written out of canon and banished into nothing by Grey. But then again, since Grey was gone from the scene, little leaks were bound to appear here and there in his bulletproof plot. What remained was a squat demonic penguin, currently working as the chef to the Sim Battle Cafeteria.

Still, he did enjoy a good book every now and then.

Axel: "I'm not saying you do poor work, Mr. David... But I'm sick of all of..."

He opened the little pouch on his tummy, and drew out a large butcher knife. It glowed the color of his eyes, and he reared back...

"This!"

He threw the knife forward at David, a clear interference with Xen and Zekt. As it flew, it ripped apart space and time itself, separating the two and forming a path of radiance that faded as soon as it gleamed. As its razor sharp blade careened towards the errant armorer, its shimmering aftermath revealed the world for what it truly was: The greyed backdrop of the city sparkled into a clean parallel existence. For a moment, the vibrant population of the city that the Sim Battle Arena was located in could be seen, and reality itself shifted as Axel's point of view was made clear...

Hrm. I suppose I should ask for a release date for american audiences, but I could probably look it up...

I'm concerned. We're gonna be getting a lot of preorders.

And speaking of pokemon, it's been confirmed: Apparently this Saturday you can come to Toys R Us's across the nation and get a Mew traded to your GBA games... I'm really, really, really not looking forwrad to that. Crap darn it.

OOC: I actually wrote my previous post before you used Area Steal...

Axel: "Reality bites, dood. Especially when it gets shifted around."

The fat penguin suddenly appeared beside David, who kept his hair in immaculate condition, I must say. He was there for a moment's note, and then gone, a bulbous explosive left in his fowl wake.

"Prinny Bomb!!!"

It was made clear there and then that Axel was not going to stop attacking, and equally obvious that something very odd was going on if David was suddenly getting teleported against his will outside of a place that would serve to further the attainment of his goals. It was almost as though the fight was nothing more than an RPG-styled random encounter: A character suddenly being engaged in a battle for no reason other than to fight, changing location and indeed the finer aspects of his existence to attain arena-like perfection. Perhaps it had meaning... But for the moment, the pressure was on David, who would have to stop toying with his locks to come up with some blocks.

OOC: Feel free to comment on this at any time, H. I haven't stolen this from you, I'm just "interfering". Not many people do that in modernist Sim Battle. And Forte? Speaking of comments... Is your sound blocked?

Towards the ground, but not towards the Prinny. Axel's knives flashed as he swung at the rings and knocked them aside with ease; It'd take more than a rookie projectile or two to bring him down. He threw his rotund body forward and hurled it through the bolts of lightning, which attracted thankfully to places other than his non-conductive-metal body.

There was another flash of shining metal, and one of Axel's knives ripped through the air, tearing off the piece of reality and showing holes into the true world: People laughed, people cried, there were instances of emotion and art running rampant throughout the streets as the scars in existence sealed themselves back up and another knife whizzed along its path in tandem with its partner, both heading for David's head!

He left because he had ideological differences with Kirbynite's plans for the overarcing plot canon of the AF-universe Story Forum, particularly those surrounding exchanges between his characters and the now-MIA Danicess' characters. His departure has nothing to do whatsoever with anything anyone outside the SF has said, done, or caused.

Grey: "I've got this..."

He pulled from a piece of nothing his baseball bat, which flickered firmly into his hand as he clenched it.

"No good for opening doors, but it's a trusty sidearm in case we ever actually get in trouble. They've got all of my other stuff..."

He checked his pockets. Yep, all gone. His marble pouch, iPod, spare pouch, yoyo, wallet, and...

"....HEY! Those bastards took my DS!"

He stomped his foot on the ground, and the baseball bat disappeared as he pounded the closest wall with his fist.

"I had Phoenix Wright in there! I JUST got it, too! What the hell!"

Garro: "What...?"

Grey: "Welcome back."

Garro stared at himself in amazement, feeling along the sides of his body where Kalar had pierced him with the scythe. He was completely healed; No cuts, lacerations, impalements, scars, bruises, not so much as a skinned knee. It was as if he had been reincarnated into a brand new body. He remembered everything, too...

Garro: "I... I died."

Grey: "Yes, you did. You're alive again. Phoenix was nice enough to revive you, since you were one of the last powerful humans to die in the overrun. Please try to come to terms with it relatively quickly, we don't have much time and you're all the help we can get at the moment."

Garro: "O....kay."

He looked to the left and the right, and took a deep breath. He had just noticed that this was the first time he found himself breathing in what must have been years. The air dizzied his head as he came to grips with life manifest, and he blinked several times before realizing that yes, he was indeed able to see, hear, and smell the world around him. He took a few wary steps forward, and waved his arms as he did. He was able to move. It was like riding a bike: You never really forgot how to. But there was something missing... a presence he had felt since childhood, now completely gone from within him. Curious, he drew a sigil in the air, one of Sehanine, the goddess of the Moon. To any observer, it would look like he was pointing to various patterns of nonexistent stars across the blank skies. Ark leaned over to Grey and spoke quietly...

Ark: "What, precisely, is he doing?"

Grey: "He's drawing a sigil in the air, a symbol of one of the gods he communes with. I think he's just realized that the presence of the gods has vastly waned."

Garro's gloves left behind a trail of sparks, but nothing more. He grimaced.

Garro: "The gods... They're all gone, aren't they?"

Ark: "Not all of them. Many of them, but not all. I believe it may be up to you to find out which ones still support this shattered world."

Garro: "That's... None of them would. If everything that has transpired is true, and all of the world's population has been razed, then no man or woman would be alive for the gods to draw faith from. I'd have to call them back myself."

Ark: "Then call them you will. Unfortunately, you will have to do it on our time..."

Garro: "I see."

He placed his hands inside his coat's pockets, stroked the short fuzz of facial hair that adorned his chin and cheeks, and considered.

"Grey."

Grey: "Hm?"

Garro: "Before the end, there was military action against the Heartless. Naturally, they were destroyed, but the site of one of the battles in particular was not far from this city. Can you take me to it? I need to look for something."

Grey: "I suppose..."
