Grey falls over, and his disco ninja sword falls out of its scabbard and onto the ground. Feeling bound by his honor as a groovin' assassin of the '70s, Grey holds his sword out in front of him, and exclaims wildly.

Grey: "A ninja's sword must not be sheathed until it has tasted blood!"

There was a bright flash, and Grey appeared behind the Spined Cleft with his finger in the air in a classic Saturday Night Fever pose, his sword back in its sheath.

Grey: "Ow, crap, ow..."

Grey downs an Ultra Shroom, since nobody seems to be taking care of him...

"Fine, I'll do this myself! Roundkick!!!"

Grey sends a flying Chuck Norris the Cleft's way, and hopes to goodness he's sending it to hell.

Lilmario, you look pretty awesome like that. Way more stylized than how I envisioned you, which is definitely saying something.

No, no, leave it as it is. It's like a birthday surprise.

And also, I'm sure a day of reasonable rest would do him good, too.

Or internet. Internet is fine too.

Well, there's just this whole problem of how many shitty games made by people who only play one or two Madden games in their entire console lifespan we'll see.

I dunno, I'm kinda apprehensive about making this kind of power readily available. I mean, what if people don't know how to use it?

However, at the same time the prospect of free development of games by gamers is very interesting.

I-- okay. I just re-read the article and noticed the "Youtube" line.

That's bullshit.

That's total bullshit. Think of all the shit that you find on Youtube. I refuse to pay money for the crappy games that other people will no doubt manufacture. We'll have people shopping in penis-head mods to Halo and making shitty, naked versions of Dead Rising. This won't "nurture game development talent" at all. It'll bring the quality of games even further below what it already has fallen to, and soon we'll have to play through games which are essentially nothing more than the bastardized versions of someone's home videos being hosted on iTunes.

If anything, it's a terrible analogy. But if it's something more than that, I'm scared to see what could possibly come out via Xbox Live, and what Microsoft would do not only with the licensing to such a risky venture, but also what they'd do to the content that the less mature/intelligent part of the excited populace of this target demographic will eventually come up with.

Yeah, I mean, Iron Chef is freaking awesome. There's no way the show can be anything but the clash of the titans of oven mitts and spatulas. I like Emeril, too. I like the way they make their food look, even if you have no taste and think it all tastes the same, at least the visualization that they provide shows that these are people who really put real work into their food.

As for me, I've been brought up to enjoy food. I went from barely having enough food to survive as a kid to having all the food I can possibly eat as an adult, and I STILL eat Macaroni and Cheese from the box. I enjoy it. All food definitely doesn't taste the same, man.

I completely recognize the idea of sinking and floating, but that still doesn't mean we won't have to wade through the belt-high bastion of bullshit. I'd rather preserve my sanity.

Plus, what about copyrighted material being used in independent games? Even if they're awesome, you know someone will just end up making the next Halo OUT OF the next Halo. If this is being released, I'm sure as heck gonna stay away from it for a few years, both until its price goes down, and until there have been some established gems. For all we know, this could be a supreme failure.

Like Urinal Cakes? But for diapers. Or the stuff that pops out of a diaper when it gets submerged in water. Super absorbent, my ass.

Also, I am quite the procrastinator, but as you can see, I get the job done no matter how long it takes.

There is indeed a thread about this already: Feel free to bump it if you want to have your friend code added. That's considered pertinent information to some of the people here who still play ACDS.

I dunno, this test is pretty BS. It gave me a 135, but it asked general knowledge questions: To bring up the apricot issue again, if you didn't know what an apricot had inside of it, it'd be impossible to determine that it was in fact the only "core" food on that list. Too many variables.

EDIT: And on another note, IQ has become more and more inaccurate in recent years due to overanalysis: I suspect Kyouji could give a more in-depth explanation, but intelligence has far too broad a range to standardize into a single score.

Besides, I know I'm a genius. I don't need to have a test tell me that.

Personally, I think that football games are boring.

I do have a question, though, and I figure I'm eligible to ask since my own guilty pleasure is soccer sports games...

Maybe I'm hung up on how terrible the pre-current-gen roster of sports games was, or that Madden '05 retails for about thirty five cents at EB, and that Madden '06 will soon become the same way when '07 releases (after its ginormous amount of hype press LAST year), but the current form of Madden seems to be more of an RTS than most RTS games out there. It's just that rather than have your characters equipped with swords and chainmaille or guns and kevlar, you're equipping them with football gear and a piece of polymer shaped somewhat like two halves of a really fat missile stuck together. If anything, it reminds me a lot of Battalion Wars, controlling one unit on a field full of allies to achieve a common goal. I wonder, am I too far off the mark with this one?

It's funny, really: before reading this thread I never thought of a sports game that way, but now that I think about it more and more, the games really are evolving a bit.

Also for the people who claim that each successive game is nothing more than a roster update with a few new moves, I have to ask: Can't you trade players between teams anyway, causing the roster upgrade to become somewhat moot?

I'd continue to argue, but I also don't really care.

Yes, but The Screen Savers was fucking WIN&1/2 for any of us who didn't want our technology shoved up our asses in a cold blizzard of x-treme marketing like it is now. Go Go ATI.
