I think it was Xk who said "Just open word and spell check it there"

It would be a nice feature though.

That's a stupid answer. The point was supposed to be convenience.

It'd be a major inconvinience to have to add several special cases to the spell check for member names -- Rydain, my own name, Hiryuu, Ailure, etc -- and most people don't need it.

Besides, there are already many other spell checker ways.

Er.. I know, I agree with you. I said exactly the same thing in my post, about how it would be extremely annoying getting special case requests every other day. At the end I was just saying that your answer wasn't useful for the situation because the idea was suggested for matters of convenience. As I said in my post there are options, but the gains do not outweigh the cost.

In general I have no large bent against Microsoft products, but I sincerely feel that the Internet Explorer project, after losing to Netscape, has been incredibly tragic. IE7 is just a continuation of my disasspointment with the browser. The interface is overwhelmingly "blah" to me, and I am very aggrivated and confused by the placement of the menu bar

Ok so some military planners releases speculative documents about using tactical nukes against Iran if they don't cooperate (Which would be probably the biggest mistake ever) and now the oil prices are going sky high. Jeez. Gas prices suck now-a-days.

I bet they have like billions of gallons of it stored somewhere.

Yeah.. and I bet they call it something like.. oh, I don't know, say, the "Strategic Petroleum [Oil] Reserve"? And furthermore, I bet we have the world's largest Strategic Petroleum Reserve and that many other countries have similar systems, how sinister!

I don't know.. nothing too provacative here, just asking a few questions that are obviously related to the Illegal Immigration debate. None of these are too well thought out, just some questions I have I guess... *shrugs*

When did the "illegal" in "illegal alien" start meaning something else?
When did "immigrant" become synonymous with "illegal alien"?
Why do people actually believe that Americans won't do menial labor?
How have the guest worker-ish programs worked for European countries, and is it fair to apply those results to the relationship with the U.S. and Mexico?
Will I be able to illegally enter Mexico and demand the same rights (or even for that matter, any rights beyond the right to a jail cell) as legal Mexican citizens?

The whole "they'll take our jobs" logic is silly. Why are we more entitled to work somewhere just because its on the same side of the border as we were born? When Mexicans come over and start making money, they'll be consumers like the rest of us, buying products right here in the US, which creates more jobs.

No, maybe they shouldn't have all the rights of citizens, but if they're paying taxes, they should have the right to send their children to the same schools. And once they've been here long enough, maybe a few years, they should have the option of citizenship.

The simple fact of the matter is that their presence is illegal. Hence the "illegal" in "illegal" immigration. It is clear that because of your extremely globalistic, anti-national views you can justify and push aside the "illegal" aspect of all this. But the truth is the presence of an illegal immigrant in our country is an ongoing violation of current laws. It's like getting arrested for smoking pot, but being allowed to toke up in the jail cell. It simply mocks and undermines our judicial system.

Not only are they in continual violation of current laws by their very presence, but then to put a drain on our national services on top of it? It is simply an illogical, irrational stance.

Unless I am mistaken, the 404 actually indicates that you have made a connection. The 404 is sent form the server itself, and basically just says, "hey, I know what you requested, but i don't have it", for one reason or another. At least AFAIK

I'm only assuming, so bare with me, but I'm hazarding a guess that you don't have the necessary experience to take on locating many/all of the data mentioned. The techniques in the documents mentioned require a working knowledge of basic microprocessors, basic assembly programming and the NES hardware.

That said, I definetly encourage you to look to alternative techniques/programs, learn new ones, and keep at it. Good luck.

Posted on 06-27-06 04:04 PM, in Okay, so I'm going to build... Link
...a computer. My old machine died late last year and I haven't had the money to replace it until quite recently. I know just a bit about hardware, but I have a basic idea of how I want the machine to turn out:

  • AMD Processor (Dual Core + 64-bit)

  • AMD compatible motherboard (which socket type, 939 or AM2 or other?)

  • ~1 GB RAM - (DDR/DDR2?)

  • Rock solid Video Card (with TV/HDTV tuner and all that jazz)

  • Shiny/pretty case with which to mesmorize myself

  • DVD burner (pretty much your standard crap, not looking for anything fancy)

I have about $1,200 grand to spend, and although I would like to use the money as efficiently as possible, I really want to make this machine solid. I already have a Sound Card, Mouse, Keyboard, NIC Card, and various other paraphanalia left over from my previous computer which I may or may not replace at another time.

My primary concern is the Processor, Motherboard, RAM, and Video Card at the moment. As I said, I know just a bit about hardware, but probably not enough to really put together a tight package.

My questions to all of you are:

  1. If you were given a budget similar to mine and shared my purchasing priorities, what would you buy?

  2. When I am buying a Processor, Motherboard, and RAM, what types of speed ratings or other metrics do I look at to judge the efficiency and cohesion of the package?

  3. What technologies should I spend the extra dollar in now to future proof my machine: certain interface designs on mobo's/graphic cards, RAM type, anything like that?
