| didn't say pointless....
I'm saying why not instead of making up fantasy governments we look directly at the one we have and suggest ways to make it better... I'm sure if I spent enough time I could come up with a pretty good system of government.... that doesn't do much on it's own... instead I could learn about and understand my current system of government and think of ways to improve that instead... I'm just saying the vision of government you have is most likely very different from anything we have.... and extremely unrealistic.... therefore very difficult to actually impliment... |

you're giving the Alberta government this much credit? that they could actually be pulling something like this off and get away with it.... I honestly find this entire story hard to believe.... if things are so bad.... why not go call some TV stations and tell them about a protest going on at some government building to get some TV cameras there and then do something... and great if you get arrested.... then someone might actually know about this instead of you posting it on a message board....  |

| I have to agree with Skydude....
parents should be teaching their kids about sex and sexuality not schools I know I don't want my kids growing up thinking it's natural to be gay, whether or not people think it is natural. there is a difference between tolerating a behaviour and accepting it.... I don't want my children to be accepting of homosexuality.... they will tolerate it, but not accept it |

| global warming may be affectable by humans, but I highly doubt we can or ever will do enough to create the cotastrophies that some scientests (and movies) suggest that we can do....
and like someone else has already said.... we're coming out of an ice age.... of course the world is warming up and ice at the polar caps is melting.... that doesn't mean that the world is going out of control and natural disasters are going to kill us all.... step out of hollywood for a minute |

| well, I think it's safe to assume that it was the teacher that did it and not the school board or government
but why are the teachers values being pushed onto the students? just because the teacher is okay with homosexuality or thinks it is equal etc etc etc doesn't mean he/she should be allowed to teach young children those same values.... let the parents, or at least the sex education teacher try that. At least in sex education it won't be slipped into stories. It will be outright and obvious what is being talked about and suggested and hopefully the kids will be old enough by that point to make a judgement on their own about homosexuality and not adopt the teachers opinion when they are 6. |

| wow.... I just noticed Chev posted in.... thanks... that's about what I wanted
and yeah, I'd want to teach them MY morals.... and not the schools, or the governments ideas of what morals should be my children will also be part of the religion I'm a part of, until the age of 18 when I will set them free to choose as they see fit (since they are adults and legally I have no control or required influence anymore).... |

| putting them in jail makes them worse? as opposed to leaving them on the streets? or letting them continue their lives as if they had done nothing wrong?
people that break the law should go to prison.... and yes, there should probably be some effort made to rehabilitate them.... but abolishing prison altogether? do you want every murderer and rapist released so they can continue to do what they do? and I have a question..... why does a rapist have to rape? or a murderer murder? they both seem like choices to me.... choices that those people made willingly (unless mentally ill, then they should be locked up somewhere anyway) I don't see why you people want to go so easy on someone that defiles a woman, or takes a life, or abuses a child.... sure, maybe not death penalty in absolutely every case.... but come on.... you can't just say that it should never EVER be a possibility |

and then he lied under oath about it... THAT is why he was impeached.... because he lied under oath... yeah, it was about a blow job, but he still lied under oath.... which I know see that Vyper already mentioned
