There is no single editor, as nearly every game uses a totally different format. And this needs to go in ROM Hacking, not General Chat.

Approx. 320GB, though one 40GB drive is only formattted to 32GB because my old IDE controller couldn't handle the full capacity. I'll reformat one of these days.

$12F4D-$12F50 are the blank tiles for the 10, 20, 40, and 80 point sprites. Provided you haven't changed the water splash graphic, you can use tile #69 instead, which is also blank.

That was hardly a good enough reason to bump this thread over a month.

So, yeah, your second example was right.

Nice work. I suggest you also apply my piranhafix.ips patch, which fixes a bug in the piranha plant's code that can potentially corrupt another onscreen sprite (though this hasn't been observed yet). This bug is responsible for the red leaves, as it writes the palette to the wrong address.

You know, I think all of the sprites may be used in some form or another. Even #96, the duplicate Chargin' Chuck that was "confirmed" unused...I was playing around with it recently, and discovered that changing its ASM pointer can cause the leaves on Jumpin' Piranha Plants to glitch like mad.

I did, but I didn't change its ASM pointer, just some flags (can't be killed by cape/fireballs).

Aside from "graphic bytes" 2 and 3, the two Chucks are identical, so I really don't know what's going on...

It's not just used to save space. Layer 3 only supports a maximum of 4 colors, and thus it uses a 4-color tile format.

Thanks for reminding me to find this.

$71AC5: change to 76 to start right at the beginning of the SMB theme, or 74 to include the short drum intro normally at the beginning of the loop

Interestingly enough, there's no "timer" per se...just a pointer table with a whole lot of duplicated pointers leading up to the SMB part. The 3 pointers for the main loop are duplicated 8 times!

No, you see, the overworld music bank doesn't even contain the level music. The whole reason separate banks exist is because there isn't enough room in the SPC700's RAM to hold them all at once.

There's probably some routine you can call that will load a different music bank, but I don't believe anyone's found it yet...

Swear words carry little shock value for me anymore. I've heard them so many times, they've lost most of their meaning (though I still don't ever use them, not even online). I still get a little uneasy around people that sprinkle them liberally throughout their sentences, though.

The filename has nothing to do with it. Something inside the executable is somehow being recognized as viral code (even though it's clearly not, as the virus that is being "detected" only appeared recently). Aside from the occasional bug, nobody has ever reported YY-CHR doing anything out of the ordinary, or causing a viral infection (unless it was infected by someone else when they downloaded it).

Personally, I would recommend you ditch the resource-hogging resident scanner and instead do a full system scan once or twice a day. I hate to see one of the best tile editors ever made being shunned in favor of (ick) TLP just because some stupid virus happens to resemble part of it...

That happens when you overlay a corner tile on top of another tile. Just remove whatever's behind it and it'll fix itself.

Also, cement blocks and munchers = WAY overused. Try replacing some of those blocks with different platform types (grass, ropes, clouds, arches, whatever), and cut WAY down on the munchers. Try using more enemies or some other creative traps instead.
