"I am the Architect. Ergo, and such stuff"

hehehe

anyways. I don't do drugs nor do I plan on doing any even if they are legalized. I do see the benefit of legalizing marijuana over other harder drugs.

And if being bad for you were linked to illegality then a lot more things would be illegal that I see people do all the time. Smoking would be illegal for sure. Just cause it's dumb to do, or bad for you doesn't mean it should be illegal.

wow, that just about sums up the reasons why I don't do drugs or drink alcohol.

I've been there, I've done the dumb things.... and I'm over it. I've had more fun sober than I've ever had while intoxicated in any way.

Arwon: well, not everyone has a great tolerance.... and for me, once I start drinking I tend to just keep doing it as long as there is more alcohol around....

it's kinda of a cycle.... I drink a little.... my inhibitions and common sense start going out the window, so I drink a little more, and more goes out the window....

once it starts it's kinda hard to stop unless someone stops it

Jomb: driving while using a cell phone should be illegal.... it does impair driving ability to a significant degree to cause serious danger

your argument was overboard and stupid.... some things like driving while talking on a phone are also stupid.... and should be illegal...

maybe you should be illegal

mattp: some people can... I can do it and do it quite well.... but not everyone can.

I can also drink and drive (I've done it).... that doesn't mean it should be legal....

if your conversation is so important that it can't wait.... either get off the road or get a head set or other hands free device so that you can concentrate more on the road and use both hands

and to bring it back to the topic.... marijuana impairs reaction times in people.... therefore if it is decriminalized then being high while driving should be illegal

ah, fair enough.... it is kinda hard to read his post when the entire thing is just 2 paragraphs without any clear separation of thought or point...

I prefer lots of spaces between sentences

never.... a fetus is a fetus while inside a woman.... when it comes out, it's now a baby... or some stupid scientific name...

and even in this state would live only a few hours unless taken care of by an adult.

babies, whether inside or out of a womb, are totally dependent on the mother or other guardian for it's life....

so, I guess a fetus becomes an independent human being when it can provide all of it's own basic needs for itself...

which for some people is never

thank you skydude....

sure, I was being a little too literal.... but I was trying to make a point...

some babies have been born as early as 5 months into a pregnancy and have survived.... and others are born on normal due dates and die within minutes of being born

Government will never be perfect... there is no method or organization that is going to be perfect for everyone....

people are imperfect and since government is run by people (or 1 person sometimes).... things will always be done badly...

corruption will always exist.... petty differences between countries will always exist, religious differences within and without will always exist...

why not leave the realm of fantasy government and just focus on steps to improve the government you have.... because things aren't going to change drastically....

maybe that's because we don't test for it.... or don't report it as being a cause... I'm willing to bet many car accidents (even just more minor ones) could have been influenced by pot, but never reported because police weren't needed at the scene....

just because it hasn't happened to you or 10 people you know.... doesn't mean it can't or won't happen

I already said that certain drugs affect people more or less than others.... maybe your family/friend have higher tolerance, or aren't "high enough" to be significantly impaired at the time...

to many factors to make such a blanket statement

I'm not talking about smoking pot WHILE driving.... drinking and driving doesn't actually involve drinking while driving....

it really should just be called drunk driving

anyways... smoking while driving is a bad idea as well.... should it be illegal.... probably not since you can smoke and have both hands on the wheel over 90% of the time....

oh, and you mentioned pot causes paranoia... do you honestly think that will help people drive better? I disagree... I think it would make them worse. Paranoid/overly-cautious drivers are just as dangerous as people who are over-aggressive on the road.

Rydain: uhm.... if you engage in the act of sexual intercourse.... and you get pregnant.... maybe you weren't careful enough....

it's not like the "state" forced you to have sex.... they didn't force the penis into you.... they didn't force you to not wear a condom, or take your birth control pill...

is it fair to that child to die because you were stupid?

says who? the government? the same government that gave you privacy is taking it away?

I'm fine with it personally.... there isn't anything I saw in msn/aim conversations or through e-mails that is in any way illegal (in my country at least).... if they want to look through my e-mails, or tag it for keywords.... be my guest.... look at me and see how bad I am!

what are people afraid of?

well, no one form is 100% effective....

although, most are so close to 100% that when combined and use properly become so close to 100% that you shouldn't be pregnant unless you stop using those forms of birth control...

and in those cases of abuse and coersive force (pretty much rape in my mind....) I have no problem with abortion. I dont' want to outlaw it.... I want it limited to more of a case by case basis. It should require parental consent for minors. And it shouldn't be allowed to happen because "the condom broke" or "I forgot my pill".... or some other stupid excuse....

if you have sex, face the consequences....

and that is a fair worry... we've all seen/read enough things where governments control everything you can say or hear.... and that is bad...

but I still don't care if the government can read my e-mails

you must love just following my posts around this board and disagreeing with me....

I never said to not improve government.... but to expect or actually believe that a perfect government is possible is far fetched....

you can be taught lots of things.... like to not cheat on a test.... but when the test is taken, and you forgot an answer.... some people will still cheat....

and "evil" is always around.... if you want a government without corruption, then you would need to have a society free from corruption....

like I said... it's not possible... people aren't perfect.... therefore anything people attempt to create won't be perfect
