Years later, I discovered that there was a difference between good tomatoes and bad tomatoes. The good ones aren't mushy, and they have a mild flavor. They're still not my favorite fruit, but at least I can enjoy them sometimes.

That's exactly how I was/am with tomatoes. I love pasta, but I hate tomatoes. I learned how to eat everything on my plate but not a single piece of tomato in the process. It impresses my mom.
When I was little I tried a tomato, and it was... a disaster. A bunch of seeds got in my mouth... seeds I didn't know were in a tomato, and so completely freaked me out. I refused to touch a tomato for years after that, until one day I had a sandwich with tomato on it and didn't really mind it. I was amazed.
So now, I have tomatoes every once in a while, on a burger or sandwich or pasta. But they still aren't a real favorite of mine.

Psht. Playerhaters.

The grossest thing I've ever eaten was baking soda mixed with vinegar, butter and jelly. It was frothy and gooey and gross. Truth or dare, or actually my friends invented a game... Bag 'o Dare. Basically, everyone writes dares down and throws them into a bag.. and we go in a circle and pick them out. We were gonna make a board game along those lines.

My sister ate a bagel that she found on the floor with butter on it.... oh yeah, and ants crawling all over it. She did it for four bucks to..

Oh, and this is totally unrelated.. but my friend Scott didn't shower for a whole month... for a QUARTER.

Shit those ads at the bottom of our threads that I never noticed.. are smart.

Well... I don't drink energy drinks. They taste craptacular.. and don't get me energized at all. I can pull an all nighter on water and saltines damnit.. I don't need caffiene.

And coffee tastes nasty... I only drink tea.

]= here's another one who's gonna be shit poor in college.

Uh, do stupid bets for money. Like "I bet you wont....".. and do it. You'd be surprised at how much money you can get doing that. If you have a lot of friends, you could probably get like 50 bucks a week. I could ..

That's a dumb way to get money though. Not so reliable. Whore your computer skills around, I'm sure you'd get paid to fix computers. Especially if you charge lower than the average rates, but not too much lower. You'd probably be helping people with stupid things to.. like you'd have to re-install AOL for them because it's broken. You'd be surprised at the number of people who'd think you were a genious for re-installing AOL for them. Or changing their myspace layout for them.

Well, personally.. I do enjoy cuddling, holding hands and such over sex.. which explains why I'm nearly 17 and still a virgin. Alot of people would consider that impossible where I live.

There is a boy who I have that kind of relationship Kutske described. Last night he held me and we sang Third Eye Blind songs together in his friends car. And, well.. that's it. He was like, my first real romantic relationship.. but it's kinda been lasting even when we're not together. It's alive in our eyes and in our actions.. never sexual ones.. but it's something that lingers. I can't explain that relationship if I tried. Oh, he painted me yesterday to.. he's an artist. Yup..

The brother thing doesn't bode well. Although, I've told a guy he was like a brother to me.. and eventually we ended up going out. But that was like.. once... out of 23849793847 times I've called a friend a "brother".

Don't pretend. Why should you be something that you're not to get her interested? I'm kinda into the whole creative thing to.. I dunno.. people who have a passion tend to have deeper more intracit thoughts and ideas.. so they're more interesting to talk to.

I'd say, if you showed her you were deeper in other ways she'd like you more. Like, not with art.. but if you're good at something else. Or even, that you just think deeply. Looking at the stars with her and talking about the universe or something. It's cheesy, but I fall for that.. because it's something I'm genuinely interested in. I'm into cheesy guys though. The kind that'll bring you a teddy bear when you're sick... and then tell you that you're cuter than the teddy bear.. even though you're sick and have tissues hanging out of your nose. Yeah, cheese is good.

Uh, I guess my point was to just make it look like you think deeper into things. Like, you see more than meets the eye. Don't treat her like another pretty face, another girl you need to "win" over... just talk to her. About anything. I was talking to this guy and we were talking about how people should sit on TV's and watch couches... because people would be closer and get alot more accomplished. Yeah. Random shit like that brings for great conversations.

There's some movie's that shouldn't have sequels made though. Like Big Momma's House, which IS getting a sequel.

Freaky movie. I saw it on Saturday Night. Flipping scary as HELL. Literally, the first half hour is all sex.. and then it's all GORE GORE GORE GORE GORE GORE GORE GORE. Like, I don't even know how they got away with showing half the shit they did.

I was also high when I saw it, so in my mind.. it was 38247293847 times scarier than it actually probably was. But, even some of my other friends were scared.. so yeah. It was NUTS.

The Strokes "Is This It" and "Room on Fire", are all I've been listening to lately. They're sound is original, I haven't heard many bands that sound like them. Their songs are so catchy to.. and dancey [=.. I blast The Strokes all ze time.

I'd also recommend ANY ALBUM by "The Shins". I discovred them off of the Garden State soundtrack, with "Caring is Creepy"... and the rest of their songs are just as good. They're reminiscent of bands from the 60's, with a touch of a modern feel to them. They basically stick to SIMPLE songs, which makes them amazing.

Simple music is the best. I hate bands who distort everything to the point where the basis of the song can't even be heard anymore.

Posted on 01-16-06 01:28 PM, in Why are they dying? Link
I was on myspace and I got a bulletin from a friend of mine that read-

Take a man and put him alone, put him twelve thousand miles from home. Empty his heart of all but his blood, make him live in sweat, in mud. This is the life I have to live, this the soul to the Devil I give. You have your parties and drink your beer, while young men are dying over here. Plant your signs on the White House lawn; "Lets get out of Vietnam". Use your signs and have your fun, then refuse to use a gun. There's nothing else for you to do then I'm supposed to die for you. There is one thing that you don't know; and that's where I think you should go! I'm already here and it's too late. I've traded all my love just for hate. I'll hate you till the day I die. You made me hear my buddy cry. I saw his leg and his blood shed, then I heard them say "This one's dead". It was a large price for him to pay, to let you live another day. He had the guts to fight and die, to keep the freedom you live by. By his dying your life he buys, but who gives a DAMN if a Soldier dies! If you give a DAMN repost it!!
-

I see some serious flaws with this. First of all, soldiers say they're fighting for my personal freedom. In the case of the War on Terror, I'd say okay. Afghanistan I could understand, it seemed as if they were trying to catch those responsible. I live in New York City, and I know people who died in 9/11.. I can certainly see why we'd go after those responsible.

Now, Vietnam and Iraq are two totally separate deals. I'm going to focus on Iraq, because that is the current issue. Saddam Hussein is NOT linked to Al Queda or 9/11, he does NOT have WMD's and as far as I can tell, he posed no direct threat to the US at the time of our invasion.

So why are soldiers dying over there?

If this administration really cared about this issue, we'd be in China, and in Cuba, and in Venezuela, and in over half of Africa freeing people from oppressive rulers. We'd be in Sudan helping them escape their devastating ten year long civil war, and we'd help them establish a democratic government. I'm not dumb, and I don't see why alot of people can't see why freeing a foreign country that's unrelated to us in every way.. makes any sense.

And if this administration cared about preserving democracy, they wouldn't be trying to make this country less democratic by abusing the checks and balances our country is built on. Republicans wouldn't be following the unitary executive theory, they'd be trying to improve our democracy by questioning what's going on. The unitary executive is much like the divine right of kings, which scares the bejesus out of me.

I have a huge problem with war to begin with.. and I'm having an even huger problem dealing with this Iraq situation, because it's not justified. There are over a thousand US soldiers dead... and over 30,000 Iraqi's dead. And believe it or not, some of these people were fighting to keep us out, not because they're terrorists who want all Americans dead. They've also dehumanized the enemy. Many kids where I live refer to arabs as "sand niggers" and openly say "we should just drop a nuclear bomb on the whole middle east"..

The bottom line is, no one can clearly say why we're in Iraq. A fight without a cause is destined to lose.. I believe. If we set up a democracy there, it's most likely going to be flawed, rushed and weak. It'll be taken over fairly quickly, kind of like the Weimer republic in Germany post WWI. I seriously doubt we're able to solve over 3,000 years of religious hatred in a couple of months, or even years.

In this case, I wouldn't mind a ceasefire and soldiers staying there to make sure the negotiation process and the democratization of Iraq is going well. Because I mean we do have to have a rational solution to the mess we're in. The two extremes of "keep the troops there fighting" and "pull them out immediatly" aren't going to be very effective.

But this thread isn't about the solution. It's about the cause of this. Why are soldiers dying? Why are Iraqi citizens dying?

Yes, OoT. I'm an idiot.

Zelda games appeal the most to older gamers, in my opinion. So it's best that it comes out for the GC. That means we can all save up for the revolution in a timely fashion. Or, uh, that's what it means for me.

Okay, in your honest opinion.. what are the chances of intelligent life forming on other planets? Do you think they've "contacted" us? And, do you think they ever will? How would religions deal with the existence of aliens if it was proven true?

Many people think that aliens much more advanced than us, I don't. I think that if we're able to exist at this stage of our development... that other life forms could either be lower than us or higher than us technologically speaking.

I also have alot of other thoughts on aliens. But, what are your thoughts?

Would you rather have been born a native american when the white settlers came.. or a jew in nazi germany?

There's definatly a white stereotype to though. Just like there's an asian stereotype, an italian stereotype, a jewish sterioype, a german stereotype, an irish steriotype... etc..

Except, no one really pays attention to any of them. They just make for good jokes.. cause there's a little bit of an element of truth to all of them.. but in jokes it's over exaggerated.

You can pick out the people who are truly racist from people who are just joking.. I hope. Cause without a sense of humor, you will go insane.
