No, the site sends files which contain part useless bytes, and part bytes from the pirated file. It's basically like smuggling little tiny pieces of a stolen (music/movie piracy is not stealing!) statue through a few bags of gravel. You take the pieces of the statue out and reassemble it at the end, discarding the gravel.

PS: Stop imming me. I know that my analogy is totally different than how the technology works and that's because most of you are too damn stupid to understand the process anyway.

What the hell are you talking about? I haven't IM'd you, ever. I don't appreciate you insulting the userbase of this board, if you don't like it, GTFO.

That doesn't answer my question... I understood what you said already.

I guess I don't understand your question? How could the RIAA monitor your downloading anyway?

One. I wasn't talking to you for one thing, I was talking to people who were already starting to bug me about 'omg that isn't how it works'. Second, I made the stupidity comment not for you but because 3/4 of the people in this thread seem to totally not understand how the technology works.

Fine, but if you're going to insult someone, at least be clever.

This is not what the abstract says the technology does. What you are describing is steganography (disguising diamonds within gravel), this technology is NOT steganographic in nature. On the other hand, what whiteasprinwow said IS correct. They could not tell what the information you send is because the blocks sent are generic, they are basic building blocks of files that do not represent any specific completed work until specific blocks are assembled in a specific order. This is NOT steganography or information hiding.

My analogy could've been better, but it's accurate if you say that the gravel isn't really gravel, but pieces of the other statues... just use the puzzle analogy.

Fun fact: creating steganographic images is illegal in some states.

Damn. Why is AOL even still around? I have 2GB of search queries their users inputed, on my computer. Isn't there a class action lawsuit from over the 600k users who had their searches made public in March 2006?

This is the third PSP destruction video I've seen since it's Japanese release. First in spanish though.

edit: I honestly doubt those guys actually bought the PSP. If they hate it enough to post a video like this, they may have stolen it.

Sorry for the bump, but are SSRI's your only option? If you're not experiencing drastic depression, I'd stay away from it.

If SSRI's are your only option, I'd find a new doctor. If you don't plan on staying on something consistently, see if you can get Xanax. It's a benzo, so you'll have some of the same effects, without the paranoia/inability to achieve orgasm/appetite issues.

I've posted in both the SMW hacking forum and the Pokemon hacking forum very sporadically for three years. I made a small Super Mario Brothers 2 hack (while only the first few levels were tested), which required basic knowledge of 6502, I found empty space on the ROM to JMP to, etc. I also worked with Fobby and The 6th Lime (the guy who created the FFVI editor) after he had finished his notes, towards finding out how the maps worked. I think I'm capable.

This approval thing, is it an ode to CG Games? I vaguely remember needing approval at CG Games for some forums.

Please accept me.

Why would someone bring poison on a plane? I can sip a little gasoline without dying.

This story is a bit unrealistic. NO ONE is getting locked up for drinking a sprite on a plane, even if they snuck it on.

Oh, good.

I know someone who went on SSRI's because he was literally on the brink of suicide. It saved his life, but he had to have such a high dose that he was on an overdose of it every day after a while. He said he got so paranoid that he couldn't ride a bus, because he thought that the people behind him would kill him if he didn't stare at them.

So you're saying we should do whatever someone in an airport tells us, even if we are positive that it's harmless? "The rules are there for a reason" sure, but you have obviously missed the reason if you think it's dangerous to bring Sprite on a plane.

While I'm not advocating bringing Sprite on a plane ILLEGALLY (well, actually maybe I am, there's nothing unethical about it. I wouldn't do it, thought), three years is way too harsh a sentence.

You know who else imprisons people for bringing Sprite on a plane? Al Qaeda.

Civil disobedience is very effective at reversing laws that are widely seen as cruel and unnecessary, because there will be a large amount of people willing to fill up the jails for the cause. I don't think many people are willing to do time for Sprite freedoms. So let's not go down that path.

Logical fallacy. Just because a bad group forbids it doesn't mean it shouldn't be forbidden.

Yes, civil disobedience works, but you have to choose your battles, obviously. I was just saying I didn't think it was immoral.

My Al Qaeda example, while not strictly a logical fallacy (), was simply a joke.

I like how you don't deny the sexist part, but suggest I take a logic course. However, I find it even more funny that you accuse Apple of being so proprietary. Why do you think 98% of the market use PC's? Because of proprietary software.

Ahahahahaha.

These debates end up with one side saying "well they both have strengths and weaknesses..." and one side says "GOD DAMNIT LISTEN TO ME I DON'T CARE IFYOU DON'T PLAY GAMES BECAUSE YOU HAVE A MAC AND WON'T NEED A HIGHER GRAPHICS CARD, I DON'T CARE IF ANYONE WITH HALF A BRAIN KNOWS THAT YOU USE SOMETHING LIKE A PODXT LIVE VIA USB TO INSTEAD OF ANOTHER SOUND CARD YOU NEED THESE THINGS YOU MAY NEVER USE." I have seen so many of these debates, which is funny because how can you have a debate about a matter of complete opinion?
