As Shen's mental push hits, Zin's first split-second reaction is anger, but calm takes him another split-second later, as he reminds himself there are people like this all over the place. ...or are there? "Listen... I don't exactly know where you're coming from, but I can assure you you are the victim of a dreadful misunderstanding. I'm not expecting you to trust my word on this, but understand when I say I would NOT lie to you, or anyone else, in such a deliberate manner. End of story." He turns to leave, but his curiosity stops him. "Damn, I'm such a hypocrite..." "Girl! ...Who ARE you?" He says the last part slowly, as if considering whether or not he should've asked her, but it's definitely too late now... |

| At the burst of energy suddenly let loose, Schwa darts up, simply staring. It isn't long before his challenger appears to him in person. Schwa just stares, as the man takes his fighter's stance.
"Umm... Did I... miss something? Apparently." Schwa gets up off the dusty ground. They're on a very short plateau surrounded by forestland, minus a long strip of long grass. "Ow, my back... Blasted hard surface..." Schwa studies the old man for a moment, before he, too, takes his own unusual stance and his hands instantaneously explode with sky-blue etheral energy. "Sensae, stop pulling strings. I can't take this." Schwa listens to what the air has to say... Not much, really. It's too tense. |

"My name... is... Zin. Psi Scientist Zin. And I said WHO are you, not 'What is your name'. I figured you were a deep thinker when my mind-reading wouldn't work on you, maybe I was wrong. And... there's no... such... THING... as 'false hope'. All hope is true. Think about that. "Now, let me ask you again. WHO are you? Not 'What is your name', for the record. There's quite the difference in those two questions." Zin sighs. "Things are turning sour. Gee, if I get into a brawl, what elementals are there for me to use?" |

| "Amazing tracking."
Schwa's instincts take over for half a second as Forte's twin busters come into play. Schwa holds his ether-coated arms in front of him like a cross, as several of the buster shots pelt him. Damage is reduced to almost nothing by the ether, but the force of the shots scoot him backwards an inch. "Strong stuff," Schwa thinks. "I'll need a diversion." "Here's nothin'! Gyrowell Advance!" (echo effects) Schwa releases the massive amount of ether coating his arms into the air. It swirls and spirals intricately over the whole garden for a few seconds, coming together 8 feet in front of Forte in the form of a compressed white energy ball. Immediately after formation, that ball begins to strongly attract all matter in the area except Schwa. Anyone caught inside the Gravity Well isn't damaged, but it's hella hard to get out when all gravity is being centered on you. "That oughta keep him off balance," Schwa thinks. "What the HELL?" Suddenly, Garro and Kalar can feel a presence that was NOT there before. Though this presence can't quite be seen from their current angle, it is clear that somebody was a little surprised at detecting someone who knows so much about FORBIDDEN Psi Warrior lore. That someone is standing in front of a closed window, on that tiny brick sliver people dare to call "sills", 6 floors from the roof... listening... and occasionally butting in... "That's a loooooot of info. Yes, defninitely. I hope you have a good reason for, er, well... knowing what you know. Technically I wasn't supposed to hear that bit, y'know... You gonna speak up?" Zin turns and walks as he talks, expecting Shen to follow. "You shouldn't be picking fights with 30-year-old Psi Warrior Scientists. You're intelligent and wise. Use those gifts for a better purpose. That's my advice." He suddenly turns around. "And no more of this 'false hope' deal! That is an outrage! Do you understand?" "Gee, I hope THAT went well... No way. I blew it at the end. Blast it! Why is this girl so hard to talk to!?" |

Through the doors of the Cafe casually strolls a man clad in white, loose clothes and a black blindfold over his eyes. He seems to see just fine. And many people should recognize this fellow as he walks in as if he's never been gone long at all... Strangely enough, the sky-blue ether that almost permenantly coats his hands is flaring hugely. He walks up to the counter. "'Scuse me, may I have a Crecent Owl to stay?" "Wahahahaha! Hey, ain't ye the kid who ivr'one said died 'r sum'fin like that an' disappointed us all?" "Uh... I'm not sure one could go THAT far. Hey, aren't you--" "S'right! Hahahahahaha! Half-orc Beserker! I needed s'm quiet in me life fer h'while, so I said eh, what the heck! An' I come 'ere ta work 'fer a while! Wahahahaha!" "Good plan. But between you and me, these guys aren't really the... quietest... bunch you'll ever meet." "Pfuh! ...Trust me, kid, they are." "Oh." "One Crecent Owl comin' right up! Wahahahaha!" Schwa goes to the next counter, pays for the meal, finds a completely empty seat (probably on purpose) and sits to wait for the delicate delivery. Anyone with questions for Schwa would notice he's fair game. |

OOC: ....  *faints* That ain't bad! You make yourself?
"Gah, it's me! How many more tricks do you have!?" Using a Tech is out of the question after a Gyrowell Advance. He'll have to wait a turn, and that certainly won't help his current situation any. He decides to try and counter the SP Schwa's attack. First he reads it's mind... but it doesn't necessarily have a mind. He's able to tell MOST of what it'll do attack-wise, but as you'll see it won't work out the way he completely wanted... The punch comes in, which he guards against with his right arm. There is a blue ether burst as the two Schwas' limbs connect. The kick, though, he doesn't expect, and it almost knocks him over. He makes it a backflip, shoots into the air, and deftly dodges the pursuing Schwa SP's chop attack. As he lands far back from the well, he notices the attack has ended. "Whew. Charge energy time." Schwa kneels and begins charging ether, as his whole body practically explodes with the blue, firey energy... The ether certainly is alive today, more than usual in fact. A good question Forte could ask himself would be "why". Another question: What's Schwa charging up for? UMana lll......... 3/12 |

| Schwa looks up at the lights.
"That's gotta mean something. ...Light vs. Dark, maybe? Damn, I'm so gooooood... Waitasecond!" Schwa's attention focuses to the man. He's right there, and a broadsword is, seconds later, on it's way to him. "Not happenin'!" Schwa's hands explode with ether as he catches the blade, minimalizing the damage. Still, the damage would've been amazing, and even though Schwa's ether almost completely protects him, he notices just how powerful the crushing attack would've been to him had that block not worked... Schwa quickly focuses ALL the ether into the sword and rolls sideways, clearing his now unprotected hands from the sharp blade at the last second. The weapon should now be charged with Schwa's energy signature, meaning he now has limited control over the movement of his opponent's weapon. Schwa closes his eyes and meditates for a brief second. "I'm doing this for YOU, Sensae, rather than coming home. And I WILL enjoy it, just to show you up." UMana l........... 1/12 |

| "Oh, a magic user... Ohhhhh..."
Zin suddenly draws a weapon out of an invisible sheath-- it's a long, glowing neon-green energy whip. Immediately he's twirling it, then-- CRACK! He snaps the soul globe out of the air. However, this causes an electrical short out over the whole weapon, and as it slowly loses it's glow Zin looks absolutely dumbfounded. "Aheheh... Fascinating. It should recharge in a few moments, though. You!" He thrusts an accusing finger at her. "I tried reason, but that impressively failed, so we go with the next best thing... Sensae, aid this man in his quest!" Then, with a leap that defies his current age, Zin leaps up and right over Shen. His target is the tree in the park, the park being conveniently nearby the shrine. In fact, the tree is 30 feet away. But what would Zin need a tree for? Shen's about to find out... |

| Schwa finishes charging. "Got it. Now..."
Schwa runs back up to the well, and thrusts a hand out. "Burst!!!" Suddenly the Gyrowell bursts into a high-speed, high-powered shockwave of energy. It ripples outward, threatening average Holy/Psychic damage to anyone it hits-- and yes, this includes Schwa-- but the throw-effect it packs thanks to the gravity overload is more dangerous than the damage. Schwa then uses his charged energy in the form of a Tech. The ether coating him suddenly fades to a bright silver... "Spirit of Wind!" (echo effects) Once again there is a swirling ether effect, only this time the ether is swirling directly in the center of the garden. It forms the shape of a funnel, and soon standing before Schwa is a 7-foot tall wind tornado, emitting electric sparks at its base and kicking up a small breeze, much smaller a breeze than one would think would be in the area with a tornado there, even a 7-foot tall one. "Meet the Air Elemental," Schwa explains. "The best fighters know how to summon temporary allies. Have fun." ^.^ Immediately the Elemental circles around to get behind Forte. Now we have Schwa on one side of him and a summon on the other. Is that good? Time will tell... "Boy, I gotta cut down on the Techs," Schwa thinks. "I wonder if I'm capable of 3 more attacks without Techs. We'll see." UMana llll........ 4/12 |

| OOC: I'll edit this if I misunderstood the "rules" of your last move.
"A little more, and-- Back!!" Shen was one step ahead of him. The tree he was targeting had landed a perfect blow on Zin in the form of an attack-- it had lashed Zin across his face with a branch. Turquoise ether flowed from the wound for a moment, but Psi Warriors can't bleed blood, so after a few moments the wound is invisible. "That, girl, can be a double-edged sword. Watch." Zin approaches the tree again, sliding under another similar attack and grasping the bark. Ether flares over the whole tree as the soul energy Shen imprinted on it is drawn into a mana-pocket Zin quickly forms for himself, along with some of the tree's Nature energy, it's Spring energy (it IS spring, ya know), it's Fruit energy, and it's mana. (Those are dilapidated names given in place of very complicated ones for the sake of the reader.) Zin combines the energies, mentally reconstructs the molecules, adds Ether molecules, sticks them together, and... "I hope this works... Oh HO!" Zin releases a dust into the air out of his hand, that very quickly expands. Zin is immune to this dust (as are all Psi Warriors thanks to the way he engineered the attack), but any other targets, in this case Shen, will suffer extreme paralysis when they come in contact with it. Furthermore the tree's done attacking. "Excellent! Just as Science would have it." OOC: Let me rant for a moment... I've always believed that magic IS Science, and vice versea. When I created Zin, I was thinking, "Why not combine the two?" ...Thought you should know. ^.^ |

| Schwa had jumped and hovered to avoid the shockwave.
Schwa studies his Tornado attack, and shakes his head. The two tornadoes collide, and there is a huge windy burst, revealing no more Elemental when it clears. But Schwa has faith. "That won't work." As Forte executes his Earthbreaker move, Schwa rolls forwards to escape the attack, as a compressed thunderbolt almost instantaneously strikes from Schwa's direction en route to Forte. (This is an average-damage attack.) Schwa gets up from his roll and stands in front of the Air Elemental that was supposedly destroyed, but is all in one piece. It's the one that launched the attack! "See, problem you encountered was... My summon is more like a spirit than an actual element. The only way to kill it off is raw damage. It's resistant to physical attacks, but even moreso against what it's body is made out of; wind. Nice try though!" Schwa prepares for a Tech, thinking, "Aw crud. I was hoping to fight without these, but it's so tempting! Augh!" "Here it is, the classic: Alpha Psibeam!" (echo effects) Schwa hopes this isn't too taunting as he draws his silver, homing arc of energy and lets it fly. For a hit, above-average Holy/Psychic damage is taken by the target. And, of course, it has above-average homing capabilities and does extra damage to Evil characters (which is false, probably/hopefully, in Forte's case). "If I can just keep this elemental alive, I'll be able to merge in a few moves!" Schwa thinks. UMana lllll....... 5/12 |

| The instant the air splits, turquoise ether explodes around Zin.
"Ah, the air is thin! ...To answer your question..." Zin holds his whip up, which has recharged mostly, and begins to spin it like wildfire. A breeze is started, and it neutralizes Shen's maneuver before the ether-barrier fails. "I took a few TINY molecules of their energy signature. The tree is still very capable of living. But I'm a scientist... We're not exactly in agreement with the activists on this subject... But I refuse to change my tactics. Science can be used to enhance magic! That's MY style in combat." With the energies from the tree memorized in the little mana pocket he created, he can easily whip up some more powder by summoning copies of the molecules he studied... but he needs a new tactic. He takes his whip and channels a new variation of the tree energy through it... "Here it is, the Flora Cracker!" (echo effects) If there's one thing Zin is good at, it's definitely a rare talent-- improvising Techs! Zin snaps the whip over and over again at points in the air around Shen, and soon there is a chain reaction of sparks snapping on their own. The cloud of sparks moves towards her in a slow line... and the whole time it's scattering seeds on the ground! The seeds are quickly growing into a wall of barbed, ether-coated, beautiful flowers. Touching them would be poison-inducing, but they just sit there, so if one is careful they're no threat. The cloud of sparks, though, is damaging to get caught in, and if any of the seeds sprout on a person... messy situation indeeed! "So we can give back what we've taken just as easily. Are you happy?" |

There is silence for a moment, then Schwa gets an idea. "You remind me of Forte... in more ways than one. Forte would've said the same thing you did had we met under any other circumstance. ...You don't know who I mean, by any chance, do you? ...'Cause I was just... curious..." "Geez, I hope I didn't blow it," he thinks. "By the way, there's some food coming this way. I hope you ordered something too, 'cause I'm not sharing and I don't like people watching me eat." |

Zin reaches down and slams two firm palms on the grass as it starts to grow, absorbing Shen's energy signature and halting her attack. "Gee, we really should do something with all your energy, shouldn't we lassie?" Zin starts a "charged attack" as he begins to create an atom out of Shen's energy signature, which by now he's captured plenty of, using Ether molecules as well and many other rare kinds of molecules... including the combustable E24-Zin, invented by who else? The preperation will cost him his turn. "Plants fascinate me, both in the scientific and spiritual sense. They have souls, all right, but it sure as hell's a different kind than anything else!" |

| Schwa prepares for the attack, and then...
...holding his ether-coated hands before him like an X, the bolt strikes his defense and is blocked. Schwa studies the feeling... "That attack was almost nil. Damn you Sensae! More of your tricks!" Schwa immediately grows tense. Is he now a painted target? Or maybe he was infected with some organism? What? WHAT!?? He can't handle it anymore. "Harrrr! Alpha Psibeam!" (echo effects) Schwa tries to remember how to do this... Draw the arc, let her fly. It works, and Chromedome now has a homing Holy/Psychic attack on it's way to him at a good velocity. "That should fix it," Schwa thinks eagerly. What will happen to our heroes?!? UMana ll.......... 2/12 |

| "Eh, now? Eh?"
Schwa WOULD convert his attack against him, but the result happens first. The two attacks collide, and immediately there is a force-explosion of immense Holy energy apt to throw both fighters from where they stand. Schwa has his turn. "Eeeeyahhhhhh! WoooHOOOIE!!" Schwa lands with his back against one of the garden's four trees, and immediately gets up to see something absolutely amazing... "What on... What in the world? ...Wow." The Holy energy released into the air made the entire garden completely FLOURISH, turning every small flower into a huge work of nature's art. Never-before-seen plants are popping up everywhere. Their beauty is a miracle... but there are a LOT of new plants, and the garden is more like a jungle now. The center of the garden still has apt room to spar, but away from the center are way more places to hide. "Well! I must say, Forte... This certainly is ingenious. You may be famous. For... that, and that, and that." He points at three brand-new plant species due to the Holy energy. "But they'll have to wait for our appointment to end before they get your John Handcock, if I have anything to say about it. En guarde!" Schwa rushes him from the other side of the garden, vanishing through the mini-jungle and deftly darting to the center to await Forte's attack. His hands flow with ether and he's completely prepared to counter an attack that comes his way. The Air Elemental stands behind him, generating a breeze and waiting for the moment of destiny... | OOC: I need more experience with this character and a hard victory. Here goes...
"Eesh, this place definitely gives me the creeps... but they were here just yesterday, locked in an engagement, so..." A second figure steps into the cemetery through the huge, uninviting gate. He wears a teal tunic with a pure sapphire in the center of the torso, and one with nearly any kind of special power could feel an immense amount of arcane energy radiating from that gem. His hair is brown and messy to give it that stereotypical anime spiky look. He appears as a 14-year-old human boy, but his true origins not only are unknown, they are enough to flabbergast even the most studious mage should they ever be revealed. Finally, the boy seems completely unarmed. Instantly after stepping inside the cemetery boundaries, Jack should be able to sense him. But it doesn't necessarily work both ways. "Something tells me I shouldn't be careless meditating in this place, but they said I should, so... let me find a good spot... MAN, I hate this place..." |

| Since Shen's soul energy is stored in a mana pocket in the Etheral Dimension, where no physical matter is located, Zin is safe for now, but not for long. As he finishes the bomb and makes it physical, Shen's "Big Bang" goes off, coating and lightly throwing Zin. However, this leaves him with a split-second idea in his head.
"Appraisal." (echo effects) Zin closes his one eye and focuses with the patched one, zeroing in on any remaining bits of floating soul energy and scrutinizing it from all angles and statistics. With this info, he modifies some data and captures 3 brand-new molecule types based on Shen's soul energy. Since these molecules are copies and not originals of her own soul, and therefore not really a part of her, Big Bang won't target these. "I should be able to emulate your Tech data now," Zin states. He doesn't attack this turn, since he used Appraisal instead. Though he curses himself for taking such a mighty hit earlier... (edited by Schwa on 04-03-06 11:42 AM) |
