I'm not saying that, just that giving children what is essentially a toxin laden substance doesn't sit well with my concience.

The US sounds like a pretty strange place. We never get any bomb threats or stuff like that here in Australia.

Gee, all this SNES code goes way over my head. I think I'll just stick to good GFX and solid level design for my hacks. That and custom music.

If you downloaded DWTLC off Fu's site, then it's probably corrupt. I tried it and the zip was bad. Try downloading from a different site.

I don't think Metroid would've taken inspiration from bomberman somehow. Now that I mention Metroid, the new bomberman graphics look a lot like Metroid Prime 2.

I would have to agree, the SMAS concept is very tired. I personally use them as a base, then rip/make my own GFX. I still like YI graphics though, but they kinda look out of place with most other games GFX. I would love to see more people use Super Metroid GFX, though. I'm making a huge cave area based on Crateria and Maridia's GFX. The mst tired GFX though, are the SMW Overworld GFX. Everyone uses them. Everyone.

This is really a big fuss over nothing. If you feel bad about downloading roms, then don't. It's that simple. btw, if it wasn't for caffiene, I'd have turned out to be yet another conformist robot adhering to the strict code of society.

This is all pretty pointless when you think about it, I mean, nice graphics don't make a good hack. Sure, they make it better, but in the end, solid level design and playability are all that matters. Remember, hacks are supposed to be fun.

A good tool is SNESSOR. But it doesn't change the ASM code, meaning the tracks sound wrong.

Cheers Bio!

This is exactly what my hack needs. As far as unused sprites, I haven't had any problems with using no. 36. It probably just links to some prerelease feature that wasn't in the final cut.

The documents good though. I really don't know that much about the sprite data in SMW, so this should help. Thanks!

I totally agree with you man. Second Reality project 1 was one of the best hacks I've played. It didn't have any ExGFX or even a custom overworld It still kicked ass none the less.

So true. A lot of the recent hacks focus waaaaaay to much on their ExGFX and custom overworlds, asopposed to the playabilty of the game. FPI's hack is a fantastic example. He uses ingenuitive level design to make his hack fun and let's face it, the original SMW graphics were kickass anyway. That doesn't mean I'm not going to include any ExGFX in my hack, but the hack won't revolve around the GFX. Its gotta be fun or its not worth playing.

All these issues are hard to comment on at the moment, simply because of the lack of a playable demo. Things usually always seem different in game, than they do in screenshots. So keep it up Synthrax, and hopefully we'll have a demo soon.

It's kind of hard to make a demo of a hack that has only one level. Sure, you could only include sections of the level, but it'd be quite awkward. Besides, it'd be more fun to go through the entire thing in one big shebang.

Fair point, but still, it would be fun to just try the first section of the game, if only just to get a feel for the GFX and the gameplay.

Looks just like my Australian one, apart from the casing you've cut out so that American games will fit. Except my power cables keep getting fried. I've had to get three new ones since I got it way back in '94
