Where's the EXE in the new zip? I can't get sprite tool running on this computer unless you stuck it's function somewhere inside the cfg editor.

Nothing's keeping you from cheating and making a 16x16 Chomp Rock, or a 32x32 one with just two sprites, for a total of 8 directions.

I'm sure -KT- is a raver, as she mentions PLUR in her signature, and from what I know from a friend, that's basically a kind of phrase to try and show you're not in the whole WOAH DRUGS EXCATSY DUDE thing and go for the dancing and pretty seizure lights.
So basically you stuck a LED thing onto strings that glow in black light? I don't totally understand it, but it looks so cool! |

If it was the room I was in right now, there's lots of junk on the desk I could throw at him. I could use my brother's DS as a kind of mace thingy, or the DS charger cables, or my laptop's hard drive.... A chain saw blade? Yeah, that can be gotten in less then a second.

Why do I not seem to find any of these funny, and the thought of watching someone get hit by a falling airplane would scare me for life?

This thread is one of the only reasons I come to the SMW hacking forum now. I loved that one post where you were all "So I gave the Koopas all one sprite set, which means I can give this a turning animation! Which means I can give THIS a turning animation, which means I can give this one a turning animation and put it here and then I can use it any time in this level set and...", it's almost like graphics hacking comedy. The best thing is most of the stuff you've made you seem to not mind sharing around for people to look at and possibly use, because you make them in a great and matching style, while keeping them usable for games of other styles(what with it being put into the SMW engine anyway)
I only just now noticed how the ground next to the lava in the coral set glows. Awesome little details like that I love. I also like the direction you are going with the palaces! Someone who's a good level designer, artist, and designer means for quality work all around, while most usually have to borrow graphics from something else... I never asked in private messages or anything but you said I(and presumably others who have hacks or fangames in the works) was allowed to borrow stuff from what you have posted, right? Well, does that include the screenshots too? Those bones look so nice... |

I just remembered something that'd be quite useful for someone who can draw their own sprites like you. You can actually have more fluid animation if you were to use some of the ExAnimation frames on the sprites and have them only have one walking frame. Then again, the only sprite that usually pays off for 3/6 frame walking is the player, and Mario can't use ExAnimation of course, though I myself would grab up any extra sprites you made. Still, if you were able to fit in level animations and 3 to 6 frames for enemies or even just stuff like bricks having four frames of shine followed by lots of non shine... then again even without that stuff it's looking beautiful, and this is partially just me hoping to snag some more sprites for outside hacking. *shot*

The GBA works alot like SNES from what I've seen, it DOES use a tile format like SNES, though wouldn't it be possible to just change a value from 2 tiles to 1, in simular vein? Though it may be a more complex text format, who knows.

I always wondered how they did those anyway, do the have some kind of large 2bbp image/tilemap, some built in basic shapes system(that would keep them from having more advanced shapes?

My computer is horribly sorted, I have old folders labeled things like Matt's Stufffff, New Folders all over the place, and a My Music folder inside a My Music folder.

The game Donkey Kong for the Gameboy features Mario in many real world environments, including the original location of the DK games, but features a DK with a tie AND DK Jr.. It also has Mario 'return' to the Mushroom Kingdom style area, where he gets a mushroom out of a ? box and turns to normal size, and he takes a happy picture with DK and DK Jr. and all. That means Mario doesn't cage up DK and go out and shoot him, so it must be the modern DK right? But he has a DK Jr.! Could this be the father of DKC DK? I also think that SML can be fit into the Mario timeline, as it has somewhat realish worlds with strange monsters, like the arcade games and such. I guess that it takes place before or around those times. SML2 understandably is weird as Mario does seem to own his own continent and castle. This game is a mix between the arcade/SML real style and the SMB style, as there are several SMW enemies in an obvious attempt to theme SML2 after SMW, as SML was themed after SMB1/2(j), yet at the same time the areas are non Mario style, and the original enemies too are strange in comparision, much simpler and perhaps even more childlike, with cannon pigs and giant ants. I'm not sure how many people would of went through the line with the enemy design, maybe Gunpei Yokoi wasn't too good with other people's work?(The SMW universe) I never want to sound down on him but I don't know what else to say about the SML games as they clearly have a different style, so I do understand the whole no continuity idea.

He looks kind of angry, perhaps after his vacation got ruined? Mario also looks kind of, dare I say it, hip? I don't know if you were going for that though, as you said it was a vacationy hawaian shirt, while it kind of looks like street clothes, maybe because of the kind of angry looking face and the general shirt jeans style. I still love the way you did them though.

I wonder if it's possible to change the code to load all the palettes, then inserting SMB3 overworlds like this would be easier(and making custom ones would be easier too of course)

Originally posted by Zepper I have heard that through looking at some dumped models and such of SMS levels, and those far away stages are actually just low polygon tiny versions put far away and such. If you WERE able to go that far, it would have to load the other level as those back there are basically fake. I myself am curious about this sunset/night hack, I figured it was hardcoded into the game to change the lighting and BG of those stages, never figured it'd actually work on others with the right codes or file changes...
