Personally, I agree with the suggestion someone else made about Big Topics not affecting post count or ACS rankings. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

er, Legend of Dragoon? You're actually trying to use a mediocre PS1 RPG to defend Sony? |

Yes, in fact I have played it. Suffered through the entire first disc hoping it'd get enjoyable somewhere along the way.
|
It didn't. And even if it had, I don't see how a PS1 game would really help Sony out right about now. Were there no other PS2 games they made?

"more graphic intensive"?
|
Can you honestly tell me there's even a meaningful difference between PS2 and Xbox? We've gotten far enough that the small difference there is, in general, remains a minor factor at best, and Xbox to Xbox 360 wasn't anywhere near as big of an improvement graphically as, oh... SNES to N64. Similarly, there's a bigger difference between SNES and PSX than between Gamecube and PS2 - graphics comparisons are becoming a weaker argument as time goes on. My apathy about graphics is furthered by my small TV...

I'm only going to reply to one last thing from our little debate, so this doesn't keep going further off topic.

Originally posted by ZidaneOk, now you're just being retarded. I'm guessing you've never played games on a 13" TV? I have. Rarely have I been able to play on anything bigger, in fact (other than a shitty 19"). There is still a difference, but unless you're being a graphics whore, you won't notice much difference between consoles of the same generation. The difference between an N64 and Gamecube is still quite noticable. Not really arguing about that, though I wish you could've come up with a better example than Legend of Dragoon for your reason. Like it or not, most Final Fantasy games will probably end up on PS3 only, as far as I know (some exceptions, but the main series hasn't shown any signs of moving). I'd expect that to help Sony considerably.

Originally posted by Glyph Phoenix Hey, that was a good game, I don't know why people- oh, I thought you said Assault. I haven't played Command, and probably won't for a while (no DS), but I've played all the others, and my favorite is Starfox 64. Starfox and Starfox 2's controls just didn't feel right for some reason...

Originally posted by Rom Manic what do they have the power to do, though? they aren't the distributors or the lawmakers, all they can do is rate the games as far as i know. sorry about capitalization, my left hand is dealing with a large bump on my face and the shift key isn't easily reached.

Eternal pain versus... nothing.

I choose nothing. Glyph Phoenix summed up my reasoning perfectly.

Originally posted by Rom ManicOriginally posted by ThexareOriginally posted by Rom Manic How many would pay attention to the ads, though? Nevermind actually getting them run somewhere - I can only recall three video game advertisements in this area in my entire time living here (actually, I can only recall there being three, I only remember one of them - FFX2 - because it kept playing all the fucking time), and I'm honestly not sure the ESRB would do much more, especially considering that it could wind up working as essentially free advertising for the games... The best thing I could see happening is a legal requirement that M rated games not be sold to anyone under 17 (some stores already have that as their policy, I even ended up getting carded at Gamestop, and this may be law in some places), and that any people buying an M rated game with minors accompanying them be informed of the game's content. There may still be the issue of the older brother, sister, cousin, or whatever else buying the game, but at least it'd cut down on the number of ignorant parents. Hopefully. Er, about 20 hours is my record. 8 of those I was sleeping, but downloading some crap. I normally shut down the computer when I'm done with it, and this includes while I'm asleep as even the little bit of noise from the computer causes me to have some trouble getting to sleep (but someone could start playing Doom on this computer, right next to my bed, with the volume up and as long as I was asleep when they started, I'd never notice...) |

The parents don't always look at the packaging, though. And while I normally would want to go with the "you did it to yourself, you fucking imbecile" approach to dealing with those parents, these are games that definitely should not end up with little kids. That would at least help to remove some of the ignorance. Plus, the content descriptors aren't very specific, they don't tell you what the violence consists of, or any possibly circumstances surrounding it - if a situation could be seen as particularly objectionable, like shooting a police officer or blowing up an ambulance, the game's package won't tell you. I'm definitely against censorship, since there are people that are mature enough to play these games, but people need to pay more attention and know more about the games, and parents aren't usually doing any research themselves.

How difficult is it to come up with a specific, clear wording? I mean, seriously, what the fuck?

Originally posted by Silvershield I object to the "I therefore understand the universe" bit. What does believing no gods exist have to do with understanding the universe? And, to flip this around, wouldn't you saying that you "know" God exists mean that you're saying you understand the universe? And wouldn't that, therefore, be the same arrogance you're complaining about?

er, actually, Gecko, the "normal enemy in disguise" thing makes more sense there, for the first seven, as Colin said.

Originally posted by Gideon Zhi I'd rather not go offtopic, but I figured I'd answer this. The forum just recently (yesterday?) went into Approval Required mode. And you hadn't asked for approval, which is why you didn't have it - like some of these other people (Matrixz, Jigglysaint), there's no doubt that you'll get approval, you've just gotta say something first so we know you want it.

My vote is no. Your posts lack insight, you don't seem to know that a three page post does NOT need to be quoted in its entirety, and you've provided no good reason for us to let you in. |
