I blame the entire educational system, period.

The current manner of teaching and evaluation is so unappealing to students that they'd rather be at home or doing other stuff in the streets. Currently our education is in the hands of people who are not interested in the needs of the alumni, but on making them cram as much material as possible in the shortest period of time for the sake of "competence in the laboral market", which only causes students to become stressed out because of huge workloads from different subjects. We're essentially training kids to work like miniature adults from infancy, albeit with few of the rights. Not wanting to learn math is the least of our worries.

-11/?/06- Gotta read A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks for a 250-point project [English]
-11/17/06- Oral presentation about careers [English]
-12/11/06- Oral presentation about world countries [English]
-1/19/06- Science Fair (two grades for Chem )

Not counting quizzes, journal entries, exams, finals, or other projects from other classes I might get this semester.

English: I don't think we'll have a midterm on this, just a regular test and an oral presentation about world countries.

Same here. I've had glasses since I was 7, and even then, my eyesight still continues to deteriorate (+4.25/+4.25 when I first got them, +10.25/+10.50 now)

Although I am going to get laser surgery later on, to stop me from becoming blind, and to finally ditch the glasses (for a few years, anyway-- it's genetic and can't be stopped AFAIK.)
