I remember the day that I signed up for the draft, took teh asfabs, etc. Local guard recruiter had a hard on for me. My dad was pissed right off (ex-marine). If I even thought about joining my father would have broken my legs. Personnaly, I don;t like the draft. I have this issue with travelling to a foreign nation to kill someone on his own dirt. But I also would defend MY nation from invasion or attack. Its called a MILITIA.

I always thought kind of interestingt he way that teh Chinese government is fairly conservative, not unlike the French who have a laguage police to monitore and controll teh shape and change of their language. China simply chooses to do teh same with their entire culture. And if you control the information, you control the thoughts shaped from it....

Downloading roms is illegal unless you already own the cart. That being said, try Azareus for the Rom.

and they were so GOd damn close to what looked like a decent peace too man. I felt bad, when i heard that the dude got kidnapped. it was like some movie plot, where a small radical faction plans to destabalize the peace process for nefarious ends.....when probably it was just some version of midle east red-necks wanting to lynch someone and it got out of control.......way out of control.....

I found out what was going on. we open at 9, and the manager who planned to work a 12 hour was in no condition to work his shift, so he was calling for me to come in and work a double. I got called again at 8:40, and was up so i took the call. Ended up being me and another guy for about 11 hours. Man, was he pissed. He had to call in at his night job to help me cover so I wasnt alone untill 8 o clock at night on the 3rd of july. Everyone olse at the store didnt come in, or answer the phone.

I had a bad year in college. My doctor put me on prozac, which put me on auto-pilot. My friends stuck by me, but wont talk to me much about it. I remember almost nothing for a stretch of 7 months. I flunked 2 classes that semester and barely passed the rest.

This is some serious shite, and i have real sympathy for anyone struggling with it.

North Korea completed a successful nuclear test earlier this week. And does anyone beyond out Psychopathic president really give a damn? So what if kim jong il has got the bomb. He is still more interested in building a bigger movie collection and his netflix subscription. For christ sakes, the guy likes to fly fish. I can't imagin that he's got his finger poised over the big red button (you know the one, the one all alone in the control pannel thats the size of a cup coaster), waiting for someone somewhere to piss him off so he can "Launch the Bomb" and start WWIII.

I worry about the real crazy people who DONT OWN A DAMN COUNTRY and who DO OWN A NUCLEAR WEAPON.

Am i so wrong? (sniff)

Ah, morals and ethics. This may have already been said, but MORALS are a description of how you feel about something. ETHICS are a set of rules that follow or justify your MORALITY. Views on morals and morality (example: killing people is bad) shape our ETHICAL code structure (Example: killing is bad, so we won't allow people to kill each other; its a rule).

The Problem is, people would rather loose their liberty for the illusion of security, which is were we run into BLANKET LAWS such as statuetory rape. This is a touchy subject, cause no parent ever likes to think that their little kid is banging the other kid next door at the tender age of 14 but yeah, it happens. The law was really designed to keep 30-somethings from picking up dates at junior high schools and such. It has since become a club that angry parents often use against their child's sig. other.

All crimes have consequences. Some have victims.

Posted on 11-25-06 11:20 AM, in Being Religious, Being Spiritual (sometimes Being Both) Link
This is a good one kiddies. The difference between Being Religious and Being Spiritual.

Religious: relating to or manifesting faithful devotion to an acknowledged ultimate reality or deity, of, relating to, or devoted to religious beliefs or observances, scrupulously and conscientiously faithful.

Spiritual: of, relating to, consisting of, or affecting the spirit, of or relating to sacred matters, ecclesiastical rather than lay or temporal, concerned with religious values, elated or joined in spirit, of or relating to supernatural beings or phenomena.

Now that was a mouthful. But having laid out the websters dictionary definition for each, we can move on safely.

Being Religious has always seemed to me to be an empty past time. I would go to church and expect to feel this something, this glorious feeling that I had read so much about or seen so often on tv, only to come away bored and dissapointed. Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, Episcopal, bhuddist; been there, seen that, bought the church t-shirt. Didn't do anything for me. More than that, but the seeming RETAIL feel of it left me cold, the concept that if I toe the line, i get the prize, and that second place meant some form of eternal or near eternal punnishment or damnation. What the Hell (pardon the pun) kind of belief is that? And all the rules? Eat this or don't eat that? Do this on this day but that day is right out? Murder this person for her crime, pardon that person for his?

Being Spiritual on the other hand has had its ups and downs as well. The emotions I feel when I walk through a woods and see all manner of creatures, plants, scents and sounds. Flying 35,000 feet in the air and breaking through cloud cover. Seeing my wife smile. Hearing a cat purr to me. All of these things fill me with that emotion I was SUPPOSED to feel in any one of a dozen churches that only left me empty.
But then I see people performing the most horrendous acts, things no man or woman would ever do, save for their belief in a higher power that justifies their actions. Death and destruction and depravity on a scale never immagined. Horrors and Hells on Earth in High Definition 24 hours a day.

I don't believe in an afterlife (I've seen to much science, but thats another discussion). I would love for there to be one (reincarnation is actually my prefered method), but that is only because I ENJOY my current life. Sure, someparts of my life could have gone better, but all in all I am very glad, every day to breath take my part of the communal oxygen. I try to make THIS life a heaven, and no one elses a Hell.

So, I am more Spiritual than religious, but the spirit I believe in is the HUMAN SPIRIT, which can be either an Angel or a Demon.......

I was going to be a teacher (its a long story) and I find that mixed-sex class rooms can work either way, depending on the mix of students and the teachers involved. A good teacher can make it balance out and get the girls to respond as well if not better than the boys (I've seen it in action).

I feel that single sex class rooms would only reinforce the stereo types. I believe that women are the equal of men, and should be treated that way. Anything else smacks of special treatment.

I think the British got it right, with a king or Queen and a parliment to back it all up. Frankly, I would rather be one of the Queen's subjects these days than a resident of the US.
